His seat won’t be filled by appointment. There will have to be a special election by August.

And Democrats that have been dead for months STILL refuse to quit.

I wonder if Lauren can resign from her seat. Then run for Ken Buck’s former seat in the special election?

Possibly, though I wouldn’t know. But I don’t see what that would ultimately accomplish. What happens to the seat that she would leave? If her previous Democratic challenger were to run again, he might win, given how close that vote was.

Ken Buck’s seat is much friendlier to Republicans. If Lauren wins the special election, then she’s the “incumbent” for the general election in November.

The governor can only appoint U.S. Senators. I guess there will be a special election to replace Buck, or there will simply be a wait period until November

I'm a dummy. I knew that, or used to know it.

“another NY born rino bites the dust”

What constitutes a RINO in your mind? I looked up his lifetime ratings from various conservative organizations and found that he generally fell into the top 10th percentile. With right to lie, 100%.

“But if Lauren Boebert is a skilled politican”

She’s a disaster as a politician. She’s already abandoned her old district and she’s polled poorly in the new one.

I guess we’re better off with a career politican like Kevin McCarthy.

When McCarthy was being defenestrated, I repeatedly made the point that purity tests are losing propositions with a razor-thin majority.

If more moderate reps are pilloried as RINOs or career politicians then don’t be shocked when we’re left with an ideologically pure minority,

And there’s a special election coming soon (I don’t know when) in western New York that could cut the GOP lead down even further. 😣

Apparently she’s not going to do it.

Boebert should quit too. She can’t get reelected.

No surprise; he used to work for Dick Cheney and is close to Liz too.
