Gen Z Is Toxic for Companies, Employers Believe
Newsweek ^ | 03/23/2024 | Suzanne Blake

Posted on 03/23/2024 6:42:17 PM PDT by Drew68

Companies are struggling to operate as Gen Z enters the workforce at higher rates, and a growing majority of employers say the younger generation is toxic for their business.

That's the latest from a new Freedom Economy Index report conducted by PublicSquare and RedBalloon this month. In the survey, 68 percent of small business owners said Gen Zers were the "least reliable" of all their employees. And 71 percent said these younger workers were the most likely to have a workplace mental health issue.

One of the surveyed employers spoke of Gen Z's "absolute delusion, complete lack of common sense, and zero critical reasoning or basic analytical skills."

The criticism for Gen Z workers was in full force, as less than 4 percent said Gen Z was the generation that most aligns with their workplace culture, and 62 percent said Gen Z was the most likely to create division and toxicity in the workplace.

Another employer noted the generation's tendency for "expecting promotions for simply showing up every day."

The toxicity could even lead to company lawsuits, as 57 percent said Gen Z run the most risk of creating a workplace lawsuit.

Dan Space, an HR consultant who runs DanFromHR.com, said since the study reflects the feelings of small business owners, it could be skewed. These types of businesses often do not pay well or offer a high-quality company culture, he said, and Gen Z tends to look for those in any type of role or career they take on, he said.

"Gen Z is one of the most informed, confident and no BS generation because they saw what happened to the millennials before them," Space told Newsweek.

"Being told to go to college to get a great job..."

As the later Boomers retire there is going to be a serious competency crisis.

How did Trump win Florida?

Florida 2016 - Trump - +1.2%

Florida 2020 - Trump - +3.4%

1960 Cuban refugees and their American born children and grandchildren are heavily concentrated in Dade County.

All of them are citizens, and at least 60% are Republican.

Most of the 1960 Cubans trace their ancestry to Europe, not to Africa or the Caribbean.

1980 (and later) Cuban refugees - almost all of them are African or Caribbean. Highest concentration - metropolitan New York City. They are at least 70% Democrat.

How did Trump win Texas?

Two factors. Texas Hispanics are the most Republican in the USA - at least 40%.

Also, compared to Florida, a much larger share of Texas Hispanics are NOT American citizens.

USA Total Hispanic Vote - Trump 2016 - 28%

USA Total Hispanic Vote - Trump 2020 - 32%

I was born in the late ‘80’s, and today I was called a, “very dilligent, honest worker” by one of the pharmacists.

Sadly, much of my generation doesn’t share my work ethic, and the Gen Z I work with arw just... Entitled and lazy. There are too few who are not.

But it's the marxist @$$holes of the Boomer, Gen X, and Millenial generations that made them that way.

This. Ultimately, they were raised this way.

And the "Greatest" Generation spoiled the Boomers. And the Silent Genration raised the Xers to be latchkey kids without regard for marriage.

And someone else raised the "Greatest" and Silent Generations to be as they were.

One can always blame the generation that came before.

Start by getting rid of HR departments and all cameras and don’t allow cell phones in the work place.

That solves the lawsuit issue.

Sarcasm if you can’t see it but these pussies need a dose of reality in the form of a hard core lesson.

How can they be toxic for a company if they don’t show up?

Overall in 2020, Hispanics voted 2/1 for Biden; and blacks, 7/1. Asians, close to 2/1.

Under-30 went about 1.66/1 for Trump.

Slot that into the FL and TX demographics, and it is easy to see it relatively close. Thank God for the old white folks, who are the most reliable, actual voters.

It is ironic that these critters were raised by Boomers. I can’t speak for everyone else, but the other Boomers I’ve worked with over the decades have been excellent employees with a great work ethic.

Generalization; not across the board: I did notice that they had a crazy view of their kids, though, almost worshipful. Some I knew would request that the adults in the room stop speaking if Little Johnny, three years old, wanted to expound on something. I’m thinking, “WTF”? They got everything they wanted, and parents traipsed them to every possible activity at the expense of their own sanity and schedule.

The kids were given so much, and were so catered to. It made no sense to me.

Yes , they are right. Examine the examples you posted. The more each generation moved left ( and abandoned their kids to leftist institutions) , the worse the outcome of the next generation.
Now we have dysfunctional parents raising even more dysfunctional kids. If you want to destroy a culture, this is how it's done.

“But they have awesome tattoos”

That made me LOL. We hired a young couple who just started a business to clean our house, and they’re in the range of Gen Z. The guy is covered with tattoos (although I can’t see ALL of him), and his wife/girlfriend has a few. He was a tattoo artist.

They’re a paradox. When they work, they work their asses off and do an amazing job. Hubby is OCD, and loves them. BUT, trying to get them to respond to emails, texts, voice mails is impossible. They simply don’t. Frustrating. We’ll probably let them go due to the communication issue.

I’ve posted this before, but my friend had this happen. He hired a Gen Z critter in an office job. The next morning, he did show up, but a couple hours after starting time, the kid’s mother called the boss. She carefully explained how her son should be spoken to, otherwise, he gets upset. (Kid didn’t last long; my friend spoke to him as he spoke to everyone else.)

His MOTHER called his boss. That’s just nuts. Talk about snowflakes.

This one Fortune 100 corporation for which I built and sold an app to, and for which I still do some gig work on some of their other applications in the winter months, is desperately trying to retain its older employees who are beginning to retire. They keep offering me a nice full time package, but I like retirement. A few months during misery season suffices, thank you. They have also been firing the Gen Zs left and right out of "OPEX concerns" despite their record profits.

A superabundance of Indians and Chinese in their corporate headquarters. Also, they are building a new satellite headquarters in Hyderabad with intent to hire 5,000 new employees.

This is a long standing American company, mind you.

Americans are not benefitting from pedojoes "recovery" whatsoever. The real job growth is limited to H1Bs and retaining older workers, on the one hand and offshoring on the other.

America, you had a good run, but got fat, lazy, and soft. Voted that way, too!
