For more reference, the privately owned Gordie Howe bridge between. Detroit and Windsor, ON will be completed next year. It’s 1.6 miles long (same as Key Bridge). Zero pylons are in the water.

Estimated completion cost is $3.7 billion US.

Did I mention privately owned

I’ll take the toy bridge with the railroad track for Biden for $400M. Can I get it with the Thomas the Tank engine or does that suggest too much testosterone poisoning?

Per the Chicago Tribune: “Dali’s owner, Singaporean firm Grace Ocean Pte. Ltd., and manager, Synergy Marine Group”. So, start there.

And, taking your point that Maersk is but a cartage customer and has no financial liability is concerning.

Of course there is also this, from Business Insider: “Owner of ship that crashed into Baltimore bridge will likely try to invoke 1851 law used to cap damages after Titanic disaster”

the law you referred to limits the ship owner’s liability to the value of the ship at the time of loss, the value of the cargo lost and any proceeds earned on that voyage.

Just so they can name it after Ernesto Miranda, Cesar Chavez or St. George Floyd.

Too binary. Gotta be the Dylan Mulvaney Bridge.

If the powers that be, ONLY want to replace the bridge, We already have the plans and engineering done. All that is needed is to buy materials and supply labor. This saves a lot of time and money. Once debris is removed, construction could start immediately. So what are the odds that politicians demand to build back better with bells, whistles and increased capacity? Be prepared to hear that, shazam, the plans are lost, yeah right. I am curious why no one has asked the bridge engineers why they did not provide any protection for the bridge supports? It may not have been very effective but it would have been better than nothing.

The Gordie Howe is not privately owned, the Ambassador Bridge is the privately owned bridge.

I don’t think you can compare the Woodrow Wilson to the new Key bridge. The Wilson is a lot smaller and does not have approaches over water

You’re right. I was told that it was privately owned by the same company as the Ambassador.

Yes, and how many designs and redesigns did it go through and how long to build? I think over a dozen years!

Do companies even purchase liability insurance for $30 or 40 billion?

Some are suspecting bad fuel might be responsible for the ship losing power. There is another deep pocket to sue.

In some building jobs , it’s not money as the kickback.
