I came across these facts when reading about the collision: This story was like something which happened in some backward 3rd world country.

Where will all the shelters be built? Baltimore is a retail ghost town.

THAT NUMBER NEVER SHOWS UP IN THE DETAILS OF THE “BID”.

You don’t want hazardous materials or oversized loads in a tunnel.

As they say, “Never let a good crisis go to waste”. I suspect that like the SF Bay Bridge collapse, the local/state government will demand a signature bridge. A tall cable suspension, or a massive concrete arch. And a $400M span similar to the one that collapsed will become a multi-billion dollar “show piece” that will take 5+ years.

We'll have our best lactating persons on it.

But the inclines leading to the mid span are still intact.

It should NOT take 5 years to rebuild. Weather permitting, and removal of red tape, I’d say you could rebuild the midspan by fall of 2025.

Yes, the inclines are still intact. As for Fall of 2025, that’s worst case scenario. They’ll likely have the span sections replaced in Fall of 2024.

Maersk did not own or provide the crew for the Dali. All they did was charter the ship from the owners of the ship to carry Maersk cargo. They have no responsibility in this case.

Why did SloJo hang this one on the American People?

Fewer opportunities for graft and kickbacks to Baltimore's civic leaders and various Democrat politicians if Maersk foots the bill.

Most of the money will be used for “graft heaven” and “political funding”...

The environmental studies will take, at least, ten years...

The DEI fight over the naming of any replacement will take ten years...

The bridge will not be rebuilt and a tunnel project will begin the prelim stages 20-years from now...
All the above will be repeated for the tunnel project...

Politicians’ and unions’ bank accounts will continue to swell to astronomical proportions!

Has anybody watched the construction of the Gordie Howe bridge?

I don’t think the current dei idiots can rebuild anything. We need to elect a President who knows how to build big things and cut through red tape.

I wouldn’t think an insurer could cover a $30 billion tab. Not for one client.

Meanwhile, Kamala is suggesting building a ship/boat tunnel under the rebuilt bridge so this doesn’t happen again. /sarc?

A legit heavy construction company with a deadline and a bonus for coming in on budget and on time could have that bridge back by Fathers Day.

Look for the union label.

Company i was with has built this sort of bridge for two generations. They would do it design-build in response to an RFP and have it replaced with a similar structure and new protective island abutments in 24 months. Much less with bonus provisions.

Exactly. With Democrats in charge everybody is trying to blow the replacement cost sky high to make room for kickbacks.
