TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Squatters beware. Florida's latest law makes it easier to remove those illegally staying on private property.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 621 into law Wednesday, eliminating squatters' rights in the state.
"We are putting an end to the squatters scam in Florida," DeSantis said. "While other states are siding with the squatters, we are protecting property owners and punishing criminals looking to game the system."
DeSantis said the law provides homeowners with remedies against squatting and increases penalties for squatters.

Well, I do like the imagined IMAGE of SQUATTERS GETTING SQUASHED.
DeSantis is the very best we have. Republican voters are stuck on ..... Trump.
49 other states should be listening and following VERY fast. And New Yorkers should pummel their state legislators to enact this right the hell now. Let’s see if Kathy Hochul considers squatters to be criminals or constituents.
Basically allowing one to obtain legal title to a property that was truly and legally abandoned.
It would be a potentially powerful force in reversing urban decay and squalor.
It would require the “squatter” to make significant improvements to the property and assume and pay off any and all back taxes and liens. Not by just simple “occupying” property legally owned by others.
Corporations, realtors and other types of professional invest firms would be prohibited from using that legal device.
“squatters’ rights” caught my eye and enraged me, too.
WTH? What “rights” do squatters have other than the right to be shot dead right on the spot?
What’s next? Rapist’s rights? Carjacker’s rights? Imbezzler’s rights?
Watch, the ACLU will oppose this as a civil right violation...

DeSantis made a huge mistake running for president this time around. Running when Trump was/is the ideal candidate was wrong, and we need Trump to bring us back from the Biden cliff.
I always felt he was/is the right candidate for the 2028 presidential cycle. Keep doing a great job in Florida and nobody can beat him in 2028. After the next 4 years of Trump, DeSantis can keep the presidency in republican hands for the following 8, a total of 12.
