MD Gov. Moore: Blaming Baltimore Bridge Collapse on DEI ‘Foolishness’
Breitbart ^ | 03/31 | Pam Key

Posted on 03/31/2024 9:45:40 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Governor Wes Moore (D-MD) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that claiming the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was due to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies was “foolishness.”

Host Dana Bash said, “Some Republicans are trying to blame the bridge collapse on policies that encourage workplace diversity. A Utah state representative who is running for governor tweeted, quote, ‘This is what happens when you have governors who prioritize diversity over the well-being and security of citizens.’ Another Republican running for Congress in Florida posted ‘DEI did this.’ What’s your response?”

Honestly, we dont know enough at this time to make any judgement. We just they lost power and navigation and it could be a myriad of reasons.

The ship had the Singapore flag and it was manned by Indians. Seems like a maintenance issue.

Missing the DIE is the words “merit” in “skilled” or “qualified”

The Republican tweets were referring to Gov. Moore being more concerned about DEI than security and safety.

None of the tweets directly said that the pilots or crew were incompetent DEI hires. That's what Moore is trying to say the tweets were about.

Focusing on the governor, even the mayor, is wrong. That’s a federal bridge, and who is running, maybe the Port Authority or whatever. That woman, I don’t recall her name, is definitely DEI higher. She has absolutely no industry experience.

“Honestly, we don’t know enough at this time to make any judgement.”

Exactly.

BUT, they started this DEI foolishness rather than stressing merit, competence, skills, and expertise regardless of skin color. So it’s no surprise at all that this DEI crap will be backlashed against them in all cases whether true or not.

Two things are certain: somebody let a ship that was experiencing serious electrical problems while in port set sail without those problems having been fixed and the ship was not accompanied by tugboats at the bridge.

We cannot yet tell if those are plain old incompetence or DEI-enhanced incompetence.

“MD Gov. Moore: Blaming Baltimore Bridge Collapse on DEI ‘Foolishness’”

DOES NOT MATTER*. How about making them defend DEI, for once?

Look at the Bud Lite boycott - did they really deserve something that extensive and effective? I would say it’s out of proportion, but I still sure as hell LOVED what we did because it gave other companies some BACKBONE to stand up to the Tranny Mafia. Same here, identical case, if we blame DEI enough, then companies (like Boeing, for example) might start questioning whether DEI is really a good idea as, up until now, they have NO MEANS to fight the DEI Mafia. Let’s give them those means, just as we did regarding the Tranny Mafia.

*although I’m sure a bit of investigation will uncover DEI affecting the collapse in numerous ways

Blaming the bridge collapse on DEI is indeed foolish. The bridge was built — without protective buffers — in the 1970’s, long before the modern DEI cult was instituted as the new state religion. Moreover, said buffers could have been built later, but the bridge sat there for over 40 years without being upgraded. As ships got bigger, if that matters.

DEI is not the culprit. Maryland stategov stupidity is the problem. Most of Maryland is actually a pretty nice place to live, taxes aside. The three big democrat counties poison MD at the state level — but even in Annapolis, there has been an occasional Republican governor. They didn’t retrofit bridge buffers either.

Bridge maintenance and replacement is a huge problem around the country. We tend to take bridges for granted until chunks of them start falling off, and in most states with the big city problem, state DOT’s are usually far more interested in expanding commuter sewers to pump even more traffic into already congested cities than they are in maintaining what they already have.

The problems with this ship were not confined to a “few” glitches in the operation. The crew, presumed to be made up of several different nationalities, may or may not have been fully competent to deal with the nearly continuous emergency situations that came up. DEI does not stop at the borders of any nation. It is an endemic problem all over the world, and a LOT of otherwise unskilled or limited work ethic employees are thrown into these jobs, resulting in uncertain predictability.

A “black swan” event waiting to happen.

Too early for partisan snipes. We need more facts. I wouldn’t rule out anything just yet.

Sounds like a freak accident but we don’t really know exactly what caused this power failure at a critical time point right in front of that bridge.

Just to add a bit to my prior posting - Look at Voter ID. The Democrats claim it will suppress legitimate voters. In one debate (not here) a guy told me that his grandmother doesn’t have ID and therefore couldn’t vote. I told him to HURRY UP and get her an ID, otherwise when she needs to see a new doctor, she’s SOL (if my experiences are representative).

Needless to say, he was making up that story, as the number of legitimate, legal, voters without a state ID is about as close as one can get to ZERO.

But the technique works, as the REAL REASON for the Dems opposing Voter ID is that also comes with other means of improved voting integrity (such as signature checks on absentee ballots, etc.), which could easily prevent the 2020 ballot stuffing that we all saw.

So, just like here regarding DEI (maybe!), the Dems latch on to something that isn’t a factor, in order to protect their REAL CONCERN, which are protections against ballot stuffing.

Contaminates in fuel is NOT uncommon. Sometimes it’s even critters like a bacteria requiring enzymes are introduced into the fuel to combat the critters.

“Diesel bug is a single microorganism or a consortium (group) of microorganisms that grow on fuels. It includes bacteria, filamentous moulds and yeasts. They feed on the hydrocarbons in the fuel and create biomass, biofilms and damaging by-products.” [WWW]

I haven’t heard the results of the fuel testing yet tho’

The rang of possible root causes is wide open right now, nothing should be ruled out until there is more information.

But is an indisputable fact that when mishaps of any type occur, the cause almost always all boils down to issues of competence.

Competence is the first inherent casualty to DEI because it ensures by default that less capable people are hired over more capable ones.

The vast majority of mishaps even without DEI baked in are due to human error in the chain of events that make a mishap ‘unavoidable’.

Therefore DEI ensures that the likelihood of mishaps will increase.
