How is Trump coming up with $100 billion? By including weapons, etc., sent to some of the NATO countries, expenditures on added troops sent to Europe, etc.? Because otherwise you can’t get there (to $100 billion).

Europe as a whole has in fact committed roughly twice the funding that the US has. That said, the Germans and French in particular have been even slower with weapons deliveries than the US. (Funds are committed, but actual weapons deliveries lag.)

Best for Ukraine would be if the Euro’s sped things up with weapons purchases from the US, but for economic and political reasons the Euro’s don’t do that, for the most part.

Well, Trump, or perhaps more so his staff giving him numbers and talking points, really needs to be more careful, because he’s easily shredded on that one.

It’s always been fairy tale Pentagon accounting regarding Ukraine. The amount of actual cash sent is a tiny fraction of that and totally insignificant number in a near $30 trillion US economy.

I agree: the Germans in particular are the worst freeloaders.

TGP has substantial ethics issues from a journalism standpoint. Jim Hoft has been busted attributing comments from people that never made the comments, and also narrative shaping, which you just busted them on.

Anything at TGP needs to be verified.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) made history Thursday night just before midnight by essentially surrendering Republican majority control to Democrats.

For the first time in recorded history — since the House began keeping records — the House Rules Committee relied on minority party votes to overcome objections from the majority and advance a rule bill to the House floor.

The committee voted nine to three, with all four Democrats on the committee voting with five Republicans to move a rule to the House floor, which, if passed with Democrat support as expected, would allow votes on Johnson’s foreign aid package, including a bill that includes tens of billions to fund Ukraine.

Conservative Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Ralph Norman (R-SC) voted no.

The deficit is not caused by Ukraine aid or even defense spending. It’s out of control domestic spending.

_________________________________________________

First of all, we won’t “run out of money” as some people ridiculously assert. Inflation is the fundamental issue at present.

But that being said, spending is spending regardless of whether it’s defense or social policies. Once can make the case that one is more essential than the other, but they are both funded from the same sources.

Nothing is going to happen. The aid will pass and everybody here will keep rah-rahing for the Republicans and accuse people like me who think the system is broken beyond repair of being DU plants.

I guess I'm a DU plant too

Ukraine Support Tracker: Europe clearly overtakes US, with total aid now twice as large!

Yep. Europe is going to increase aid and Trump is going to take credit for it. LOL. The fantasies and day dreams of the Kremlin’s useful fools are being destroyed. Too bad. so sad.

Trump should deliver a beatdown to that egomaniac Matt Gaetz for going down this path in the first place.

Kevin McCarthy was a more effective, more conservative Speaker than "MAGA Mike." No contest.

When it's all said and done I guess McCarthy's only real sin in Barbie Boy's eyes was not running interference for him with the Ethics Committee.

Per usual, GP distorts the facts

No way anyone could read Trump's actual statement and say he categorically came out against this funding package

I have stopped reading the GP after they bombarded us with endless “Release the Kraken” stories during the last presidential election... Remember? It was later proved it was all fantasy.

GP is just a click-bait website.

Now of only Europe could do it without us like they’ve said that they could since they’re SO much better according to them.
