NYU professor Scott Galloway says young Americans today are struggling and ‘have every reason to be enraged.’

In a recent interview with MSNBC, Galloway discussed the current challenges facing young adults, remarking, “For the first time in our nation's history, a 30-year-old man or woman isn't doing as well as his or her parents were at 30, that is the social compact breaking down.”

According to a 2016 study from Harvard-based research initiative Opportunity Insights, over 90% of children born in the 1940s grew up to earn more than their parents at age 30. However, for children born in the 1980s, only half managed to outearn their parents.

Galloway, said the economy is "purposely" transferring money to the super rich from the other classes and from the young to the old. About the tax system he said: "Two biggest tax deductions — capital gains and mortgage interest. Who owns homes and stocks? People my age. Who rents and makes their money from current income? Young people."

One pressing issue for young people, according to Galloway, is housing. He highlighted the rapid increase in housing prices, and the impact of economic policies that inflate asset values, like housing and stocks. According to the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the median sales price of houses sold in the U.S. was $327,100 in Q4 of 2019, prior to the pandemic. By Q4 of 2023, that figure had risen to $417,700.

The fascist corporate monopolists broke the social contract, Scottie.

Was quite fascinating to hear someone on pmsnbc say that.
They won’t make the proper causal connection though.

Would letting tens of millions enter our nation have any effect on housing, Prof. Galloway?

I would like somebody to produce a chart that shows the party affiliation of the richest people in the country. Perhaps it has already been done. I would imagine that the vast majority of them are Democrat party supporters. Wonder what Scotty would have to say about that?

They have every right to be enraged.

We sent them to college to get training, and then sent their jobs out of the country. I know about the self righteous students getting their degrees in womyn's studies and they get no sympathy from me, but many did what they were supposed to do. They trained in the tech jobs, only to have their elders offshore those jobs so they could save a few pennies. Now they're left with school loans and part time jobs saying "Fries with that?"

Is it any wonder why they're angry and rioting all over the place? What did we think was going to happen?

And after all of that, where are those cheaper prices and benefits to the consumer the free traitors promised us?

So:

locking them down for years setting them back 1-2yrs

feeding them unending mind altering pharmaceuticals along with state’s dealing recreational drugs whiled the fed has no issue with fentanyl being in every corner of the nation

along with their entire cognizant existence being largely endless fear of something mongering hasn’t worked out too well?

it must be the inflation!

I am amazed that the children of 30 year old people who had to raise kids during the great depression and WWII were outearned by their children who turned 30 years old during the post war boom.

He started out okay, then went full commie. A huge reason why young folks today can’t get ahead today is all our factories are in China.

Back when I was young, a high school graduate in my region had his pick of good factory and mill jobs. No need to go to college. Those factory jobs are all gone now.

So either go to college and learn a real skill (like say, dentistry) or apply at Walmart and hope for the best.
