The wild-looking Russian 'turtle tanks' that keep showing up may not be as crazy as they seem
Business Insider ^ | 4/29/24 | Jake Epstein

Facing a myriad of deadly threats on the battlefield, exploding drones being a particularly serious threat, Russia and Ukraine have both taken extra steps to safeguard their tanks and vehicles by outfitting them with extra layers of protective armor.

This improvised armor, sometimes little more than a chain-link cage welded around the outside of a vehicle, is essentially an effort to provide a last-ditch defense against inbound munitions like artillery, anti-tank missiles, or small drones packed with explosives, especially the latter.

While both militaries have used such tactics, Russia, in recent weeks, has unveiled a strange-looking — albeit apparently effective — innovation that has been referred to by some Ukraine war observers as the "turtle tank."

Maybe with a couple hundred dollars of scrap angle iron and sheet metal attached the Abrams, perhaps the Ukes wouldn’t be pulling them completely out of action. Old tech countering new tech.

“Old tech countering new tech.”

It sounds like you are right. Why don’t they have unmanned drone tanks so soldiers don’t get killed?

I mean on both sides.

Day 14 of the never coming devastating Iranian attack

Week 2 of the never coming nuke.

I’m having a hard time figuring out where all the commies, Marxists and their sympathizers currently running 90% of US industry/institution got their ideas?

Any clue?

= = =

Just to get silly for a bit.

Both sides can use unmanned drones. They communicate with video and image display.

OH, that sounds like some video/computer game.

When I played, I got to play again after dying and losing.

Sorry Folks, this is not a game.

At least unlike the fly by wire drones being called state of the art as if fly by wire succeeds remote control-

this one is too obvious other than to be labelled old.

Soon they’ll be breaking out cannons and catapults.

They ridicule the Russian equipment modifications, they quietly do it more expensively and less effectively to Western vehicles.

It’s been very effective as we close in on 2 1/2`yrs.

They better start doing it even less expensively.

it’s odd how we get multiple Russian promos + multiple threads denigrating the US military.

Yet figuring out the origin of all the communism and Marxism currently wreaking havoc in the US is a real head scratcher?

The thing about Russian society is that they ENCOURAGE INNOVATION, as shown by this tank adaptation. Our Neocon-infested TOP-DOWN military could learn a thing or two from them.

That’a absolutely hilarious. Innovation is the very last thing anyone thinks of when someone mentions Russia.

Most of the time Russia brings to mind drunken depressed people with vodka hooch, sturgeon-egg eating ballet fans, organized crime, gulags, wealthy oligarchs knocking each other off like mafia Dons, and old guys in oversized officer’s caps wearing ridiculous quantities of medals while overseeing grim parades of weapons in Moscow.

Innovation never comes up.

If you want to figure out why the US Military, for example, is such a mess ?

Maybe start with the selection and promotion of O-7 and above.

Not, anons on social media.

I guess that would make sense to Cold War Nostalgists and BoomerCons who are still stuck in a 1980’s time warp.

Unfortunately, as Tucker Carlson’s visit showed, in comparison with the West, and especially the United States, it is now the Moscow fast food restaurants that are clean and orderly. It is the Moscow Subway that is safe to use and free of drug addicts and vagrants. It is the Moscow Grocery stores that are affordable and well-stocked. Not to mention the price of gasoline, diesel, electricity and natural gas. As well as an absense of homeless permanently camped in every downtown.

At the end of the 1980’s, just before the fall of Communism, many of the Communist countries were doing large amounts of government borrowing to import large amounts of consumer goods that they were unable to produce for themselves ?

That reminds me of somewhere ... but I just can’t quite place it... 🤔

We can also add men are not found in women’s sports, boys in girls locker rooms, Transxyz’s in every .gov agency, gender changing operations….yes, Russia is such a backward society…not. They hold the moral high ground.
