World War III: The Culture War

World War III:
The Culture War

By traditional definition, the terrorist attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon were the opening shots in a world war. The adversaries are global in scale and the battle will be fought in many nations.

The bone-headed statements coming out of many public figures, and from many of our political leaders, such as Hedy Fry’s plan to win the war through diversity, shows many Canadians have not accepted the reality we are at war and what this war may entail.

The roaring silence concerning military affairs coming out of Washington and other national capitals as they gear up for war has not been heard in half a century. This in itself should speak volumes to those who believe this is only an 'American problem'. President Bush - with the full support of Congress, the American people, and much of the civilized world - is quietly mobilizing America's military might and he is not doing so simply to slap around Afghanistan and to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.

On the diplomatic side, President Bush is forcing the nations of the world to decide where they stand. There is no middle ground; you are with us or you are with the terrorists and will be considered an enemy. Is there any doubt why the Pakistani government suddenly agreed to let the West use Pakistan as a staging area?

The battlefields of this war will be in countries that 'support terrorism', but the actual countries that are likely to be hosting these highly destructive contests can be brought into clearer focus by defining who our enemies really are. The mewling of the political correctors in our society have brought us to the preposterous situation where we are at war yet we dare not mention our enemy's name.

The civilized world is at war with Islam, or to be more precise, a sizable portion of Islam. This is not a war the west has chosen nor do we define our enemies, they define themselves.

When President Bush and other world leaders say we are fighting a war against terrorism they are only being partly accurate. No one is suggesting America start bombing the terrorists in Northern Ireland because those are not the terrorists we are about to engage in battle. The terrorists who are our enemies are very specific terrorists, they are Islamic terrorists, and they do not operate in a political or religious vacuum.

They operate in a culture that partly defines itself by its hatred of the civilized world. This is a culture that exalts the brainwashed, terrorist, suicide-bomber and produces the cheering crowds which celebrated the deaths of over 6,400 civilians of the civilized world.

This culture of hate is spread around the nations of Islam to varying degrees. Some countries are entirely consumed by this culture of hate, and some are torn by the division it brings, while other Islamic countries are relatively civilized and practice their faith much closer to what the teachings of Islam surely dictate.

The destruction coming to Afghanistan will not stop at its borders. Whole nations may be erased. The potential for escalation, and rapid escalation, is huge. With the resolution the civilized world is showing with the whole-hearted support of its military mobilization, is there much doubt what would happen if Islamic terrorists took out a city with a nuclear device or unleashed a deadly biological weapon?

This war has the potential to become a war of extermination with the deaths of untold millions on both sides and there is really only one way these grim scenarios can be avoided.

What are our enemy’s terms for peace? Free Dominion poster JLJ may have summed it up best here.

JLJ:
What utter rubbish!

We should quit worshiping God to please the Arabian terrorists, change our lifestyle because they do not approve? Distance ourselves from our culture?

Not to mention turning back the clocks a thousand years. These terms are non-starters yet they have not been offered as some absurd negotiating opening gambit, but as a rock-solid bottom line. This leaves the civilized world with no choice but to fight and to fight to win.

The civilized world cannot stop the destruction that is to come. The escalation of the devastation we are about to see is entirely in the hands of the Islamic terrorists. If the Islamic terrorists decide to go for broke there is little the west can do to stop the terrorists' initial attacks and we will have no choice but to ensure there will not be another round.

The west cannot stop what is to come, but perhaps Islam can. In fact, only Islam can. Islam has also been forced into some terrible choices by the actions of the terrorists who attacked the free world.

President Bush and the civilized world are giving Islam a choice: Police yourselves or be destroyed, either nation-by-nation or in a fiery holocaust. Islamic terrorists, and the subset of Islam that is consumed by hate, have put the survival of all of Islam at risk.

The magnitude of cultural change required for Islam to survive this war is staggering and may be impossible. Islam must quickly learn that harboring, and bestowing great social standing on, terrorists is the quick path to destruction. Instead of viewing Islamic terrorists as heroes Islam must quickly learn to view them as harbingers of death for all who surround and support them. Individuals and nations.

It is Osama bin Laden and his ilk who have forced Islam and the rest of the world into this precarious position. It is the hate-filled sector of Islam that breeds this vermin that has been unleashed on the civilized world.

The west will survive this war but large portions, or all, of Islam will not if Islam does not immediately begin to police itself.

The west cannot stop this war.

Only Islam can.

To start I wanna say this is America! We can do anything we put our minds to! We need a new "bomb". (Please start rumor ASAP).

This bomb explodes over a city with a loud report but little explosive force. BUT, it spreads radiation/chemicals that cause all the hair to fall off the male body. It chemically castrates the men, and renders them impotent, permanently!!! So... even if they get to Paradise they can't do a DAMN thing with their 72 virgins (or 28 little boys!) Tell "W" to start a "Manhattan" like project for this immediately, and restate: "You are for us or against us!" (Your manhood may hinge on it!

DEAD ON-TARGET!!!

Anyone who understands the Islamic mindset(s) knows this is exactly what we are faced with, the worst possible consquences for all who inhabit this earth.

This is a very good article, I agree with it all. No one dares to suggest that it could become a war against Islam, yet the radicals like the Taliban already have defined it as one, and they will whip up the turbaned masses to a religious frenzy. I fear that the terrorists are holding off on their next big strike until after we retaliate, the better to justify their attack as legitimate "revenge" for our "attack on Islam". Then hold onto your butts, our moderate friends Egypt and Saudi will go ballistic. It's a good time to be living far from big cities...

Osama bin Laden is not only the scourge of the west, he may also be the bearer of doom to Islam.

You can say that again! The Canadian media has a vested interest in making people believe we are all leftists!

A well-deserved bump for an excellent article.

While no one doubts that there are Islamic moderates, and Muslims who believe in peace, religous tolerance, freedom, blah, blah, blah, that seems to be theory more then practice.

For all the multiculturalists who would like to say there is no real difference between Judeo-Christian and western values, and Islamic values, I ask you a simple question: Would you have any problem with an immigration policy that makes the United States and Canada predominantly Muslim countries? Do you think there would be no real difference, then what we have now?

I am not at all reluctant to admit I prefer Western and Judeo-Christian values to the barbarity of all too many Islamic countries.

If Islam became the major religion in Canada and the United States, all those couch potatoes who like to drink beer and watch football Sunday would soon have to give up the beer. I also have a big problem with the way Islamic countries treat women. I see a problem of respect there.

Even though I am a Christian, I have no problems with the Jews, Hindu's etc. In countries where they are in power, they, unlike the Muslims, do not make you convert or die. In fact, the Jewish religion doesn't even bother to try to convert people.

If stating the above is racist, so be it. I never was a moral relativist.

There are more Canadians who get it than the media would have us believe.

Indeed there are millions of Canadians who feel the same way, and scores of media commentators, conservatives all who also get it. I've posted quite a few commentaries at Free Dominion. In fact, here is one more by Howard Galganov, that is directly relevant and complementary to Entropy Squared's article.

The Sanitation Of Islam
Where Was The "Normal" Voice Of Islam?

September 25, 2001

By Howard Galganov

The developing military coalition does not want to make the impending war, a war between the East and the West, and between Islam and Judeo-Christianity. It does not want to polarize the enemy into forming a billion person coalition of its own. But it’s too late; Pandora’s box has been opened. The world of fundamentalist Islam has declared war on everything that is represented by the West — including Western based religions and our modern culture.

Since the terrorist attack, we have all been inundated with the "sanitation of Islam" from every corner of the world. We have seen and heard no shortage of world Islamic leaders claim that their’s is a religion of great tolerance, peace and love. And they are deeply wounded by the murder and destruction. But if their hearts are all so broken, and if Islam is against killing and violence, then where have their voices been for the past 30 years and more?

This past Sunday, September 23, 2001, the religions of the world came together at Yankee Stadium for a gigantic prayer and memorial service. It was one of the most touching events I have ever witnessed. Religious, political and entertainment notables spoke, prayed and performed. It truly represented the best in mankind. But something was missing — the truth.

I heard a heartwarming sermon from the Moslems, and I will take it at the religious leader’s word, that what he had to say was what he believed about harmony, respect and love for all — even those of different faiths. So, I have to ask myself: How come these peace loving people have never before come forward to condemn murder and violence through racism, sexism and religious nationalism carried out in the name of Islam?

I have recently heard no shortage of Moslems who have compared the demonization of Islam to the fact that no one condemned Timothy McVey’s outrage in Oklahoma as a Christian act of terrorism, and the slaughter of Moslems at prayer at the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, as an act of Jewish terrorism?

They, within the Moslem world, who compare the so-called double standard are wrong. American Christian fundamentalists with a bent towards violence are constantly demonized in the US press, on radio, on television and in Hollywood productions. And as for Baruch Goldstein at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Israel, and outraged Jews all over the world could not have been more saddened and outraged by his attack against humanity. And the Jewish anger against Goldstein was not kept a secret. He, and what he did was publicly condemned by the entire Jewish world. Without equivocation.

But where have all of these "saddened" Moslems been hiding during the non stop terror attacks that has killed many hundreds of innocent people in Israel? I don’t recall ever hearing their outcry against this perversion of Islam that was responsible for the slaughter of Jewish children in schools, Israeli athletes at the Olympics, Jews and others at airports, on busses, in markets, at discotheques, pizza parlors and around the world in countries that have nothing whatsoever to do with Judaism and Israel; such as the bombing of a Jewish owned delicatessen in Paris, and at the Jewish community center in Argentina.

Where was even the slightest criticism from the Arab and Moslem community at the visual and public outburst of joy and celebration in the streets of the West Bank, Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries, while grieving Jews collected the human body parts of those blown apart by Islamic Arab fundamentalist suicide bombers? Instead of condemnation, the Arabic Moslem children were given candy, in order to enjoy the sweetness of the murder carried out in the name of Allah. Do you remember ever hearing any condemnation from anyone in the Arab and Moslem world at this vulgar spectacle?

I guess by now, it was not unusual for Arab Moslems to be seen dancing in the streets in celebration of the murder of Jews. But it's an entirely different thing when these same Arab Moslems danced in the streets at the murder of people in New York City, Washington DC and on those four crashed passenger planes.

How can a religion that forbids women from enjoying life as equal human beings, be considered to be as loving as the current spokes-people for Islam claim? How can a religion that orders women to be stoned to death for infidelity, or even less; and for robbers of a loaf of bread to have a limb amputated as retribution in the name of justice, claim to be anything but barbaric?

Even the word Jihad all of a sudden no longer means holy war &$151; at least to the Moslem spin doctors. But it’s quite remarkable how every nation in Islam, especially the countries of the Middle East have shouted Jihad against the Jews and the imperialist Americans for as long as I can remember. Even Yasser Arafat, up until September 11, 2001, spoke of Jihad. What happened?

And then there is the cry from the Arab world, that they should not be singled out for this extreme act of terrorism. They don’t want to be profiled at airports and at other areas where large gatherings occur.

Who was on those airplanes that changed the world, and caused so much grief? Were they not Arab Moslems? Who have been highjacking airplanes, killing innocent people and blowing up buildings since the 60's? Who operates terrorist training camps in the Middle East, North Africa and Centra Asia?

Forgive me for telling it like it is. But the answer to all of the above is crystal clear. Now, let me get back to the Arabs who don’t want to be profiled or treated differently because of recent events. Where has their voice been in condemnation of those Arabs, whom for so long terrorized the world? Where has the Moslem voice been hiding, while people have routinely been massacred in the name of Allah and the Koran?

The Arabs and the Moslems who are now so vocal, were silent until today, only because it didn’t matter when the venom of their culture and religious hatred restricted their actions to the murder and terror, primarily of Jews in the Middle East. It didn’t touch them then. But now it does. So, all of a sudden, there is outrage and condemnation for terrorism from the once silent and invisible Arab and Moslem communities. But it is not moral outrage that has forced the Arab and Moslem communities to explain and apologize for what has just happened — it is fear of retribution.

I have quite a few Arab friends and associates who I care a great deal about. And my heart does break for them, because they are no more guilty of this obscenity than I am. And they should neither be profiled nor feared. Nothing they could have said or done would have changed anything. But that is not true of their leadership.

The leaders of their communities could have said plenty before this past horror. Yet, instead of publicly standing up for decency, they chose silence. And now, there is a price to pay. We can only hope, that from this outrage and impending war, the Arab and Moslem world will finally get the message; that what is done in their name, religion and culture will affect them with grave consequences.

I will add to what President George W Bush had to say about nations that are not with the United States in this epic battle against terrorism. If the "normal" Arab and Moslem world will not condemn those within their own culture and community, who carry on acts of racial violence and hatred towards all people; including Jews and Israelis, then we must assume that they are with the perpetrators.

After September 11, 2001, there is no longer any room for silence or fence sitting

I should also add that the vast bulk of commentary I've read in the last two weeks is overwhelmingly "hard line" and expresses sentiments close to what Entropy Squared, Howard Galganov, and others have said.

A new reality has set in. The enemy is now clearly defined. Also what's interesting is that those voices of the left, the moral equivalizers and the haters-of-America/the west are now standing out, like never before. Yes, there are a few leftists, who have suddenly been "mugged by reality", and have expressed their shame, remorse and contrition in the mainstream press. But a hard core of hard-line left still remain, the few that they are, and they are visible and obvious and isolated as never before. Truly, we now know who the enemies of decency, freedom, liberty and western democracy are. Unspoken, quietly, lists are being drawn up. We will not forget who these enemies are.

It's about time writers started taking a "hard line" on the issue of terrorism. Hopefully the appropriate people will listen.
