This is for all you McCaniacs...this guy is pathetic.
No guns in cockpit, no guns in cabin, only air mashalls with guns, who are "Trained in Hand to Hand combat".

Was McCain ever trained in hand to hand combat? In not, why was he allowed to have a service revolver?
To: DCBryan1
I've got an idea. Why don't we just allow Americans to keep and bear arms?

What the hell is a stun gun going to do, especially against multiple people?
To: DCBryan1
Man this ticked me off when I heard it.
Do you mean to tell me that I can't use my palm pilot when the aircraft is below 10,000' BUT it would be safe to have 400,000-1,000,000 volts of electrical potential floating around the inside of the airframe?
Am I really to believe that this is safer than the tiny mechanical risk created by poking some small holes in the hull?

Don't blame McCain. There's another Republican big-wig who's advocating stun guns. Wish I could remember the name Fox mentioned tonight. Perhaps they'll repeat his name, but it wasn't McCain.

If the crew has stun guns that can only be operated by them (there is some fingerprint recognition software built in) I think that would be a great addition to an armed sky marshall.
What will probably happen again is that there are 3-4 Ts on a plane spread throughout. The sky marshall can't be everywhere and the crew will probably be nearest to the situation. I wouldn't feel comfortable with the crew or a fellow passenger with a deadly handgun and instead with something that could rendure someone unconscious.
I'm sure to get flamed on this one for not allowing every Tom, Dick, and Harry to carry a gun on board.

Stun guns are really quite effective, especially against very determined criminals. And the fingerprint recognition technology really works. That's why all federal, state, and local police forces have turned in their handguns for stun guns with fingerprint recognition technology.
To: copycat
I think I have heard that idea before, somewhere...
To: DCBryan1
What did you expect? If one ever admits that someone other than the military and police have a valid reason to pack a gun, then the question becomes: "Why just that someone and not everyone else"?
To: DCBryan1
Stun Guns??? That works so good against 5 hijackers, lol. What a schmuck.

Unbelievable. The pilot can fly the airplane into the ground at any time, but we cannot trust him with a gun? I see some inconsistency here.

Not going to waste lighter fluid on this one since you never answered my questions on the other thread. Remember Rodney King? Ask him his thoughts on stun guns........
To: DCBryan1
I've flown with a few drunk loudmouths that I wish the pilot could have shot.

And the fingerprint recognition technology really worksI thought it was hooey till I read an article in Scientific American a number of years ago about the Metal Storm gun.
You can see their site at
www.metalstorm-ltd.comWell I can't see it on their site but in the SA article they mentioned that the gun could only be fired by the owner as it recognized their finger prints
I think in addition to an armed and well trained sky marshall, crew with stun guns would be very helpful in detering terrorist attacks. I wouldn't want them to have guns as they can a) be stolen and b) easily kill an innocent person over just a person with air rage.

Also, I agree with your philosophy for making public policy decisions. Specifically, that how comfortable you feel is the determining factor for policy decisions, rather than relying on any kind of evidence of whether or not people carrying guns deters and/or stops crimes in progress.
