There are plenty of places to find written criticism of Bush. No paper is obligated to allow the use of their pages for the purpose. Should they be forced to keep these people regardless of what they write? Freedom works both ways.

Can anybody remember a single time any reporter was fired for saying bad things about Clinton -- up to and including treason?
Ummm...no, perhaps because it is TRUE? (/duh)

Are you the FR moniter who checks every reply? Why not refute what I say rather than toss out personal attacks?
You can't is why you don't.
To: Hugh Akston
Another point to add to your cogent analysis: there are
plenty of lefty rags in cirulation around the country where these rump swabs can find gainful employment penning their hysterical screeds.
Hometown newspapers like these shouldn't be forced by "ethical" considerations or otherwise to retain such obvious business killers. Ma and Pop Mainstreet generally don't want to read this crap.

Let's see, Grant's Pass, Oregon. What would be the economic base? Can you say timber!
Loggers and those that make their living outdoors, are mostly conservative and very patriotic. This guy must've been out'a his mind writing that nonsense in that area. Probably not the first time, either.
Texas City, Texas - Can you say "Hard-Hat" refinery workers? Same type of folks that live in Grant's Pass, just a different accent.
Lucky the writers didn't get tarred and feathered.

Look on the bright side.
These two former reporters are now free to enlist in the military and show the courage they accuse President Bush of lacking.

Only an absolute idiot, like yourselfOh my...hate speech. I'm telling John Ashcroft.

Gutting graduated in June? This was his first newspaper job. Student of Robert Jensen, you suppose? Robert Jensen was the University of Texas (Austin) professor of journalism who wrote in the Houston Chronicle that the terrorists gave America what America deserved.

"The Taliban is alive and well in America. " As is hyperbole, apparently.

To 09-28-2001 and 09-24-2001: Maybe a 23 year old city editor hasn't got the depth or historical base to make objective comparisons of Bush's handling of this crisis to other Presidents forced to deal with a war within minutes of being notified. However 1 thing for sure we should all thank god that Gore and Lieberman were not in a position to make decisions.

Newpapers are commercial operations that have to respond to their customers desires. If something is published that cause customers to not purchase the publication, then the editors can fire the person hurting their enterprise. The columnist can then find an outlet that has customers will find their articles appealing, Screw Magazine ot the Socialist Workers Party newspaper come to mind.

" Woe to anyone who opposes them......" You've got the wrong family, dude. You're thinking of the Killer Clintons, aren't you? Just ask Vince Foster, oh that's right, he's dead. Well then, ask Jim McDougal, oh, he's dead too. Then ask Ron Brown. No, he's dead too. Haven't you seen the list, numbnut? Twenty million dollars these killer-traitors got for their memoirs but, they cant remember a thing in front of a grand jury.
