TO ALL MILITARY, POLICE OFFICERS, EMS WORKERS AND FIREFIGHTERS A HEARTFELT THANK YOU
KLT | 9-28-01 | KLT

Posted on 09/28/2001 1:56:50 PM PDT by KLT

I know, we have many military, police officers, EMS Workers and Firefighters who are on these threads. On behalf of my family, friends and all the people I know in the area of Ground Zero, I want to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your excellent services, sensitivity and sacrifices from the bottom of our hearts.

You've been so unbelievably helpful and supportive working long hours and being in conditions that one's imagination cannot ever envision.

God Bless You and I cannot express the measure of our gratitude for your outstanding service.

I just came from a memorial service for a good friend who was a Chief on the New York City Fire Department. He also happened to be a freeper. I can't begin to describe how great a guy John was and how much I'll miss him. We talked politics, history and world events all the time. And he loved you guys and told me about the web site. I think he introduced me to it with "Patton's speech to the Third Army",a truly great speech which I just reread here. He also always carried with him Teddy Roosevelt's "Man in the Arena " speech, could someone post that? So long John

God Bless John and God Bless All the firefighters who paid such a grave cost. Glad to see you here, freefdny....We love you!

My nephew is one of the firemen in N.Y. and I will tell him about this thread.

I also thank all those involved in the rescue, the firemen and police and all that have to face things each moment of the day they cannot even talk about

When you see your nephew Snow Bunny, please give him a big hug and kiss from me, and thank him from the bottom of my heart. A big hug to you Snow Bunny! Life will never be the same. I may never get over what I saw.

No KLT, Thank You and the other wonderful American citizens, who have reached into your pockets and pantries, medicine cabinets and garages. And came up with everything we have needed to do the job at ground zero. Your donations keep us warm, fed, and hydrated. The letters of support that hang from the red cross vans, and barricades and fencing at ground zero make us realize no matter how bad the day or how sad and tired we are, that you are all behind us and we need to drive on to bring our brothers and sisters home. The salvation army mobile kitchens, that feed us good, hot food. the verizon phone vans allowing us to call home for free and the hardhats, gloves, respirators and warm clothes that keep us safe have all come from selfless people who care enough to take time out of their busy lives to help us out. The folks who line the West Side highway from west street all the way up into the forties, cheering as we walk out to grab some food and a quick nap buoy our spirits dramatically, especially some of the female ones. (sorry guy moment) The ironworkers and carpenters who work side by side with us. Thank god for all of you. They call us "heroes" we are not heroes, we answered a call that most of us felt as children to do a job and get it done. The real heroes are the American people who refuse to be cowed by madmen and the brothers and sisters buried at ground zero and the folks who made last phone calls to their loved ones from the towers to say goodbye. The men and women who should be honored, are those folks on flt. 93 who took a plane and drove it into the ground to save others, those are the people who should be praised. From all of us who have toiled at ground zero to all of you, THANK YOU AND WE LOVE YOU - All American Medic, New York State Police

I cannot express in words the love and gratitude we have for the NYSP....You guys have gone way beyond the call of duty....Yes, we civilians try to make your job easier.....but, you are the heroes and saviors during this catastrophic incident.

From a retired NYPD detective, I salute you.....This incident has made me wish I never retired...

FreePatrioticandLawEnforcementRegards,

Karen

Thanks so much for the T.R. speech. I'll copy it and keep it with me at work from now on. I'm not exactly sure what his screen name was, but I think it had the word chief in it. And speaking of screen names kayak, John would certainly get a kick out of yours. We live by the ocean and his favorite pastime was paddling a sea kayak. Take care and thanks again.

Thank you for a great site. Any man who openly heckled both of New York's Senators at public places as John did deserves mentioning at one of his favorite web sites. Thanks KLT and thanks FreeRepublic.

He said that he didn't know the name but he thought it had "chief" in it ...... I've done a search on "chief" and didn't find anyone who is missing.
