The values in blue, reading the template from top to bottom, affect the width of the left, center, and right columns repectively--adjust to your liking, but their sum should be that of the value in green. The values in purple, reading the template from top to bottom, affect the color of the left and right columns, the center column border, and the center column respectively. I use hexadecimal color values; the English names of the colors may be substituted. The value in brown affects the space (or "padding") around whatever you place in the center column (text, usually). In other words, the margins or whitespace within the center column can be adjusted by changing this value. If the article's HTML contains tables itself, ensure they are properly nested and terminated. Be careful when using PRE--long lines of PRE formatted text will adversely affect the output of this template. The whole purpose of using this template is to enhance an article's readability, mainly by reducing the size of paragraph widths. It is easily customizable to meet the needs of just about any article or taste, but you may find other methods more to your liking.

For rolling up stylesheets to test with, it would be good if the thread had some BLOCKQUOTE'd text in one of the replies. I didn't find any. Also, an example of highlighted text would be helpful.

Can't help with the highlighted text (can't get it working with any style sheet/browser combo), but here comes an example of fr_quote (do load something that recognizes it for effect; without it, you'll just see something that looks like it's been <br>'ed):

Glad to report that outside of the header font situation (and a minor quirk or two like having to specify a border color for fr_quote and not having hover), NS 4.77 even handles threads (like the one referenced in #71-note to the unsuspecting; the link presents the thread in Forum 3.0 format) in Forum 3.0 format that broke with style sheets in Forum 2.0 format.

For your new style, you left out some of the buttons which used to appear at the top/bottom of the screen:

While most of those aren't there yet (Forum 3.0 is early beta, after all, and currently exists to John Q. Freeper within the confines of Forum 2.0a <G>), three of them are. The top/last functions are the first and last numbers in the "<<<  1 - 21 - 41 - 61 - 81 - 101 - 102  >>>" sequence at both ends of the page. The "bookmark" link is at the top of the page. The "report abuse" button has been enhanced and appears as one of the choices after every reply.

Of course, all of this is subject to change :-)
