Last night, there was an anti baby boom thread that started with a rant, and before some disruptor trashed it, some of us who were born at the tail end of the baby boom - from 1956 to 1964 - were having some nice recollections. The things that we seem to have in common are the following:
1. We were too young to serve in Vietnam, but remember the news.
2. As far as we're concerned, the music, television and popular entertainment and heroes of the 60s were and still are a matter for personal taste, and don't represent the shining apex of all civilization, icons to be revered by generations to come - in short, the Beatles were just a band that some might not like, and old Trek was cheesy and not well written.
3. Old boomers came into adulthood at the ideal economic circumstance - we've had to work for ours.
4. Our clothes and music tended to be lighthearted, and we are more conservative/libertarian as a whole than the older boomers.
So post your memories of tunes, movies, shows, fashions, school stuff, etc.
And enjoy yourselves!

Don't remember all those dorks standing on top of the hill singing "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing"? Didn't they try to bring that campaign back a couple of years ago?
I loved that show! My favorite character was that one patient....Mr. Carlin! He cracked me up everytime.
I think I lived in a culturally deprived area. I remember one episode of the Partridge Family where Keith talked about going down to get a taco to eat. I had no idea what he was talking about.
Two words: Bad Boy.
On another note, how about this ditty that's stuck in my brain:

This was right after the 9/11 attack (the 22nd), and it amazed me that NOBODY even mentioned it. I was the only one wearing a ribbon or flag. I guess everyone was still numb?
As a member of the "no-name" generation, I have to say that I think we have "no name" because we never earned one. There wasn't anything really big going on in the world as we came of age - well, the hostage crisis, but nothing else springs to mind, nothing on the scale other generations have faced. Therefore, many of us have been a bit apathetic. Till now, that is...or at least I hope things will change! Could this be why we're so easy to lead astray, so trusting?
I am getting that impression! LOL!!
Were those the parkas with the snorkel fur lined hoods? I remember me and my brothers and sister getting one each for Christmas one year.

Elephant bells (I remember wearing those stupid things in the snow and having your pant legs frozen up to your knees), clogs, Earth Shoes, the big plastic combs, that hideous, hideous hair with the single curl running all the way down the sides. My hair was so straight, that I had to plaster the hell out of it with hairspray, and even then it usually flopped by my first class.
Now, I didn't do the powder blue eye shadow, because my eyes were hazel. I did the light green eye shadow, making my eyelids look a tad on the moldy side, probably. I even had green mascara.
Cruising in my friend Julie's car, jamming to our 8 track of the Guess Who's Greatest Hits, Yes, and Queen. Pitching in 50 cents apiece for gas so we could cruise all night.
Marching band parties, velour shirts, Brittania pants. Oh. And when I was a kid, I had a crush on Speed Racer (blush!).
Can any of you remember the soap - Secret Storm? I used to watch it with my mom in the '60's. I'm not quite sure when it was taken off the air, though.
As far as some other songs - don't know if some of these were meentioned: songs from the group *Bread*, Brandy, Rock the Boat, Precious and Few.
