With all the new changes going on, I was thinking of all the cool thing FR does. The notify feature was sweet and I JUST found out about it. Can anyone else thing of the cool things Freerepublic has to offer (must be a member to use)? Here is my list(with URL):

Is this it?
first you go to your profile
then go to your locale
then you turn the notify switch on/off?

JR - great job! No one likes change, but I think the changes so far are big improvements!

everyone else:

if you haven't done this already check out the settings - I finally FIXED things that have been annoying me!
Plus all the other nice new features! :)

No, that just takes the "New locale message" on or off notification when you are at the Latest Posts

I dunno. Since I added the URL feature, I also added a name feature. You can supply a name to notify and the detached window will be that name. Example: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/notify?detach=1&name=barf

Also, the URL feature... http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/notify?detach=1&url=http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/involved does the popup and redirects to Self-Search. Change the URL located after url= to anything you wish. Another example: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/notify?detach=1&url=http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/530701/posts

Ohh. You want those links to open in a targeted window? Blah. I'm using _blank, but that is easily solved.

Did you need the name= feature for the little window, because I'd rather just use that arg for the forum|mail links within.

The full utility of to: was sacrificed on the altar of progress, at least temporarily. Now I have to sweep up the pieces and reimplement it. I'm working on a new latest posts which will take care of that.

Here is my humble opinion....

Little notify window has a < base target="blah" > so all the links WITHIN the notify window will all open to the same window. There is only three.

John, I really like all the new stuff. Especially "show full". Great job. I'll get out the crowbar and send you all a donation. Love the new functionality.

Pray tell Sunny, how do we get to the settings? (remember, I'm a busy executive and father to be, and don't have time for frivolity =8>)

Good idea. You should now find all links opening in a slave window.

Ok..

since you're so busy:

I.... W I L L.... T Y P E .... R E A L L Y .................. S L O W ! ! !

just click the link above posted in the beginning of this thread (Settings for the new forum - http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/settings)

OR just click the "SETTINGS" at the bottom of the screen

Someone had to tell me that too actually
(that's how I got to be such an expert!) LOL

Increasing the amount of posts to view at a time is a plus for me, and you can adjust your time zone
tho.... I don't know if they offer YOUR TIMEZONE!) :)

"You should now find all links opening in a slave window"

why is it called "slaves" tho....

This is also a great feature, but I didn't try it at first because of the name!

(I'm so conditioned to be sensitive) ha

It's a slave because it's not a master.
