One year ago today (October 18) toilet flushes, dial-tones and "YEAH BABY"s were the order of the day, as a group of intrepid FReepers found the codes for a conference call between the Gore campaign and a contingent of reporters, and effectively "crashed" the call. Realized it was the 1-year anniversary earlier this evening during Registered's show.

Ah! Then this is my real FR anniversary!

I read about the conference call on Drudge and thought, "These folks sound like my kind of people". I lurked for a few days and finally thought up a screen name.

I can't believe it's been a year already.

Oh what a night! I remember reading that thread. Freepers are everywhere doing amazing feats.

I remember dialing in from the office with a co-worker and we just laughed and laughed. Man, that was a fun day.

Give it time... we've conquered the Internet, print media, and getting a leg up on radio.

Next up: FR on cable. And then "Freepers: The Movie"!

I do remember this call! What a hoot!

The Gore people starting reading our comments in the thread in real-time and realized they were had.

The next one they had like a week or two later, they checked FR to see if we were hacking the call and then immediately switched over to a backup plan.

Oh, this was great! I went back and read all of the threads! I discovered FreeRepublic right after this, so I missed it. I would have loved to hear it live! What is so amusing now is the same bickering was going on then! Some things never change! LOL
