The following statement by the Taliban's leader, Mohammad Omar, was aired on Al-Jazeera television on October 26. It is informative that Omar hypocritically neglects to cite Communist China as a "factor of terrorism." On the one hand, for decades the Communist Chinese regime has been involved in the wholesale oppression, forced labor (laogai enslavement), forced relocation, and killing of ethnic Muslims in the Xinjiang Province. On the other hand, as noted in the article (linked below) by Senator Jesse Helms, Communist China has been a benefactor of the Taliban.
Al-Jazeera TV airs statement by Taleban leader
Al-Jazeera satellite TV carried a taped statement by Taleban leader
Mola Mohammad Omar calling for worldwide demonstrations against the
US-led attacks on Afghanistan.
The Qatar-based station at 1621 gmt on 26 October broadcast a three-
minute recorded statement by Taleban leader Mola Mohammad Omar, read
by Taleban spokesman Mola Ahmad Khan.
According to the statement, which was addressed to "Muslims and non-
Muslims", "the factors of terrorism are the following four countries:
America, Russia, India, and Israel".
In his statement Mola Omar called on his supporters throughout the
world to stage demonstrations during "the next 72 hours" to express
their support for the movement and to condemn the US raids on
Afghanistan.
The statement said: "...If Muslims in the world share my viewpoint,
then they should stage demonstrations in squares within the next 72
hours... Non-Muslims who share my viewpoint must show this within 72
hours in front of the entire world. If the Muslims agree with this
viewpoint and if there is an iota of faith in their hearts, then they
must go out and express their position. God is the source of
success."

Any indication is this was taped on or before Oct. 16th?Don't know myself, although Al-Jazeera might. Why, is that the date when Omar purportedly bought the farm?

It was read by their spokesman not Omar, so who knows who wrote it?

I think this can be viewed as a threat or warning. Notice this part of Omar's statement:
"Non-Muslims who share my viewpoint must show this within 72 hours in front of the entire world." I believe this is, from their perspective, fair warning. They are giving us 72 hours to repent.
This statement was said to be issued at 1621 GMT on Oct. 26. Is there going to be another terrorist strike on Oct. 29 shortly after 1621 GMT? (That's 11:21 am on the East Coast and 8:21 am on the West Coast.)

Good catch there. An empty threat? or a coded mesage for action? Hopefully, it is being analyzed (although I would tend to think it is simply more Taliban BS and bluster).

Could be simultaneous attacks in America, Russia, India, and Israel...
Regarding China, check this map for who our real allies are. The media is not always very clear on this point (hidden agendas).

Thanks for the helpful map. But, didn't Canada and New Zealand balk at first at any offers of military support? (I recall NZ not making the offer until the morning following Bush's speech to Congress.)

It appears that the "brotherhood" of Islamic nations and groups is in reality based in the shifting sands of money, politics, and personal power, and not in mutual belief and comraderie. We shouldn't simply allow the Taliban or any other Muslim entity to wave "religion" as the propaganda banner of their cause.

That might be been because neither Canada nor New Zealand have much of a military left. The peace dividend crap seems to have gotten to their heads.

You asked:
> An empty threat? or a coded mesage for action?
I recall reading a claim that before taking action against so-called "infidels", Muslims are supposed to give the non-Muslims a chance to repent or convert. Perhaps Omar's statement will let them "justify" any terrorist action taken by saying that they gave us a chance to repent but we rejected the opportunity.

I spoke to the FBI, and told them of something else I know of. The second one seemed to be something that they wanted to physically call on someone!!
To: 3ZZZ
Yep, that was my first thought too.
