A WOMAN is behind bars after allegedly attempting to carry an explosive device through airport security at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, US. Lewiza Daman was accused of trying to sneak a fake bomb past TSA agents to test airport security, MyFoxPhoenix.com. TSA agents found what looked like a simulated explosive device inside a carry-on bag at a checkpoint Friday. The container was filled with a paste-like substance, with a cell phone taped to the top. The bomb squad and hazmat teams were called out to the airport until they could determine the device was fake. Daman - an African...

WESLEY CHAPEL — Over the last several years, the developers of the Cypress Creek Town Center have spent $25 million for road improvements in the fast growing State Road 56 corridor near the Interstate 75 interchange. Other nearby businesses have also paid their share. But for those who traverse the area regularly, the months-long delays in promised improvements at that interchange, the so-called diverging diamond, have meant ongoing congestion with no end in sight. Pasco County Commission Chairman Mike Moore knows this well, since he travels the road daily. Prompted by a letter from merchants frustrated with road work delays,...

It’s well known that the Democrats have announced their plan to delay the counting of votes in the November presidential election as long as possible. Some think they want it to go to the US Supreme Court, where John Roberts might again abandon conservatives and stick it to Donald Trump. Remember, despite the polls, increasingly the murmurs coming from the Democrats are that they will drag the vote-counting out until 2021 and/or put the matter into the courts. Can they do this? Is it possible? The fact is, almost no one knows. In the 1876 presidential election, the electoral counts from three...

Federal highway officials on Tuesday endorsed an accelerated timeline proposed by Oregon and Washington transportation officials that sets the two states on a fast track toward construction on a new Interstate Bridge by 2025. Last month, the two states requested a 10-year extension on their timeline to show progress on the bridge project or face repaying nearly $140 million in planning costs tied to the Columbia River Crossing Project. That request would’ve given the states until Sept. 30, 2029, to either start buying up right-of-way or began construction on the I-5 project. While seeking a decade delay, the states simultaneously...

Federal prosecutors in Florida are reviewing date changes on forms used to fix vote-by-mail ballots. Feds discovered the dates were altered by the Florida Democrat party in four different counties, including Broward. “Cure affidavits” are due by 5 PM the day before the election, however prosecutors have discovered these altered documents show the ballots could be turned in on Thursday, one day after the election. Democrats have produced tens of thousands of ballots several days after the election–even worse, Broward County refused to disclose how many ballots they had left to tabulate which allowed them to count however many they...

The North American bid to stage the 2026 World Cup seems like a sure thing. From stadiums and infrastructure to commercial opportunities and organizational experience, the joint effort by the United States, Mexico and Canada appears to meet all the necessary requirements (and then some) to host soccer’s premier competition. The proposal would mesh more than a half-billion people from three countries that have put on 12 FIFA tournaments (men and women, senior and youth). With European and Asian countries ineligible to bid and South America waiting for 2030, the only challenger is Morocco, a country of similar size and...

I’m posting this report, not because I think anyone actually expected the Obama administration to abide by the requirements it set out for itself when devising this leviathan of a law (LOLz) — I mean, the thing is huge, and it would just be totally unreasonable to expect the administration to be able to churn out regulations and studies on time, every time, right? …Which is exactly my point. I’d just like to take this opportunity to once again highlight the practically unknowable degree to which Obama’s crowning legislative achievement is expanding our bureaucracy and its involvement in one-sixth of...

The Obama administration has failed to meet more than half of the new health care law's deadlines, from submitting plans for new, value-based Medicare purchasing programs to publishing criteria for determining the medically underserved. A report requested by Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, indicates that the Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies missed 18 of 30 deadlines since the Affordable Care Act was passed in March 2010.

The time for talk is over. So proclaimed the most talkative president in modern memory. I can't remember when President Obama said that. Maybe it was during the first "final showdown" on health care. Or maybe it was the third. The fifth? It's so hard to tell when pretty much every week since the dawn of the Mesozoic Era, Obama or Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid has proclaimed that it is now Go Time for health-care reform. So you'll forgive me if I'm somewhat skeptical about the possibility that the debate is about to come to an end. The president...

10/16/2007 - DALLAS (AFPN) -- While the holidays may still seem far away, Americans hoping to show their support to deployed troops must be aware of some rapidly approaching deadlines. According to the Military Postal Service Agency, or MPSA, mail going parcel post must be sent by Nov. 14, while first class mail must be sent by Dec. 10 to arrive by Dec. 25. In addition to deadlines, several other factors must be considered when sending mail downrange. For example, each country has customs regulations that apply to all incoming mail, pertaining to everything from food items to reading materials....

Nancy Pelosi's House Democrats did not seriously imagine they were going to override President Bush's veto of the misbegotten war-funding measure, which indeed they didn't, but they went through the motions anyway, one of the great modern exercises in symbolic wheel-spinning. And now the thing is done with. Done with, as in arbitrarily fixed troop-withdrawal deadlines being off the table. Now that congressional Democrats have banged heads with an immovable chief executive, and come away ruefully concluding that, well, no, maybe they're not really going to, as Joe Biden so elegantly put it, stuff their demands down his throat, perhaps...

Amazing the salubrious effect that being on the ground in Iraq can have on representatives of the MSM. Earlier this week, as NewsBusters noted here and here, NBC's Brian Williams, reporting from Iraq, offered some unusually positive observations. Now comes this eye-opening exchange from earlier this afternoon on CNN International between host Jim Clancy and correspondent Michael Ware, also reporting from Iraq: JIM CLANCY: "The Democrats are pressing for a deadline, be it at the end of 2007, 2008 to bring all U.S. troops home. How is that going to affect General Petraeus, the Iraqi government and the Iraqis...

Zimbabwe's farm deadline lapses Thousands of white farmers had their properties seized The last remaining white farmers in Zimbabwe are resisting a government deadline for them to leave their land. Many of the 400 farmers had until the weekend to hand properties over to new black owners or face prosecution. But the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) has advised members to resist - saying arrest and prosecution is their only way of getting a hearing in court. Zimbabwe's food production has plummeted since land reforms that saw thousands of white-owned farms seized. A government deadline for almost all the remaining farms...

The following statement by the Taliban's leader, Mohammad Omar, was aired on Al-Jazeera television on October 26. It is informative that Omar hypocritically neglects to cite Communist China as a "factor of terrorism." On the one hand, for decades the Communist Chinese regime has been involved in the wholesale oppression, forced labor (laogai enslavement), forced relocation, and killing of ethnic Muslims in the Xinjiang Province. On the other hand, as noted in the article (linked below) by Senator Jesse Helms, Communist China has been a benefactor of the Taliban. Al-Jazeera TV airs statement by Taleban leader Al-Jazeera satellite TV carried ...

Interesting, it is January 2nd. And a number of Government promises for the end of the year 2004, have failed to take place: -There has been no resolution of the Danilo Anderson case as promised before the end of the year by the Minister of Justice and the Governor of Miranda (Who has no official connection to the case) -There has been no announcement of a devaluation as announced by the old Minisiter of Finance. -The new Government airline has yet to fly once. -We are still waiting for the PDVSA financials by the way, where is Silvino Bustillos?
