USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

As you know, Vice-President Cheney has usually been staying at an undisclosed location for security reasons much of the last few weeks.

Someone has managed to sniff out his hide-out and is publishing pictures. ;-)

Good morning Syncro. Nice to see you here! Do you think maybe you will be able to make it down to one of our FResno FRiday FReeps? I know it's quite a drive, but we sure would like to have you (and the entire Bay Area Bunch) join us. (Let us know ahead of time and we will make reservations at the Outback - yum! FReeping makes this bear really hungry. LOL!)

Good morning all! Time for a mid morning coffee break. Love and prayers to all the troops. Here's my selection of virtual Blues for you today. Sorry I can't be there in person to wail for ya! How 'bout a little "Summertime",a la Janis Joplin, "At Last", a la Etta James, and today's special, "America the Beautiful" a la brother Ray Charles? Any requests? You're all in my heart, babes! ---Spatzie

"At Last", a la Etta James

I LOVE "At Last". Etta James should could sure put some emotion into her music. That has to be one of the all time sexiest songs - or maybe it's just me. LOL!

I thought I heard on the radio awhile back that she passed on, but it could have been someone else they were talking about. If she has left us, we lost a great talent, but she was getting along in years.

Well, I agree. She is one of the best. I can't come near to her amazing rendition, but it sure is fun to sing.

ping to Duke. You may be interested in this thread.

Thanks for the pic .... I wish I was still doing my part for the military. ... but I guess I'm just too long in the tooth now. BUT If they asked I WOULD go. I remember when the flight deck around the island of the carrier was FULL of bomb carts and bombs of course. Though I was a green shirt I helped MANY a team of red shirts hand mount weapons. We would unrep bombs 3 days a week for hours at a time .... hmmmm donuts .... anyone who has participated in unrep knows what that means. The amount of tonnage dropped on Vietnam in 72-73 was unbelievable. Shame we missed that one dyke though (if you know who I'm talking about) I don't think we are dropping anywhere as much high explosive now as we did back when I was in country.

Thanks for a great post. I sure do know who you mean. When I got back fro Vietnam, a couple of us that had been there and some other friends of ours, drove from Los Angeles up the coast of California. We stopped at every gas station we could and put Jane Fonda Hanoi Jane stickers in their bathrooms. LOL

Then years later I met her at a gym in Los Angeles and had the great pleasure of letting loose a major rant on her, in her face up close and personal. I am 5'11" and believe me I took advantage of it , I got right in her face. heh heh

I am so glad you came to the Canteen and please stop in often. Great post my friend.
