I say keep the post. If people are upset about viewing these pictures, then good. People should be outraged about what happened on 9/11. Those who are upset by these photos should direct their anger towards the people who did this horrific deed.

Find pictures not morbid; just breathtaking, hauntingly beautiful. . .

. . .and there are many who have never 'been there' and this will certainly give them a perspective they did not have.

Yes, thank you, vannrox!

I, too, often wonder what the people went through when they hung out of those top windows looking down. It's chilling. And everytime a body count is given from Afghan, I think "It's still not enough." Sorry, but that's my opinion. When they lose 5,000 civilians , then it might be enough.

Our people did not ask for this. Their civilians didn't ask for this. But this is how it is.

I never thought much about the WTC one way or the other before 9/11 and I had never seen pictures, other than the skyline. Thanks for posting them. I agree that we need to keep our focus; the extraneous noise is getting louder every day. I also agree that posting them at DU may not be a bad idea.

I'd rather see a post of the view of a Taliban soldier just as the B-52 bombs started impacting around him.

I would rather die fighting, too. Based on what people from New York have told me, the primary motivation for jumping was that the floors above the crash points had gotten so intensely hot that people couldn't even bear to stand there anymore.

This was from someone whose co-worker received one last phone call from her husband -- he had to climb on top of his filing cabinet just to have those last few extra moments.

Thank you for the pictures. I never made it to New York to see the Trade Center, and I want to remember what it was and what happened when it came down.

Clearly your photos are fakes. Tourist Guy does not appear in a single one.

Actually the doors to the top of the building were locked by the port authority. Nobody had a chance to get rescued.

Not according to the 911 telephone transcripts. Someone called and said they were one of 40 people who had made it to the roof and asked 911 for instructions on how to save their lives. The people in Tower One said that the excape doors into the stairwell leading up to the roof or down to the groudn were blocked with debris that had fallen during impact. But there WERE 40 people on the roof as of 20 minutes BEFORE the collapse.

I have to agree. I have seen some of them online as probably most of you have. Personally I think that every time we are shown the poor Afghan people, they should split the screen and show the images of people falling from the towers. Lets keep it in perspective!

I agree that this is a difficult subject and I understand why some of the posters here would be upset. However, I have to agree with you.

The choice that people were forced to make to jump from a 1000 feet has not only been censored as a discussion topic, but I've actually heard media creeps claiming that there were no jumpers. People were blown from the building.

The people in this building faced a choice to remain trapped in a burning building that was hot enough to soften steel, or take a leap to the street and a quicker, cleaner death. Sorry I cant type anymore

I've been all around New York State, but never NYC and certainly not the WTC's. I often wondered what it looked like from up top. The photo's are beautiful. Something we might never get a chance to see again. Thank you for posting these.

10 seconds of searing heat making your skin bubble would change your attitude immediately.

That may be true, but I would have to actually be burning to get to that point.

From the pictures I saw, the jumpers didn't look the least bit singed. I kinda think anyone close enough to be in the midst of the fire would have been killed from the initial impact and explosion. I could very well be wrong, but it seems to me that those who jumped did so because they were afraid of becoming burned and gave up looking for a way to survive/escape rather than jumping because they were actually burning.

I clicked onto this site by free choice......but I don't know why.

Just last week I indignantly told a poster he was cruel for showing 'a jumper' on one of the 'threads'....

.....but some of you have helped change my opinion on this issue.....

....I'm sure there is a line to be crossed in mobidity & 'showing what really happened'.....

....but I realize now that some in our nation tend to quickly forget WHO started this war & WHY we continue to fight!!

....the poster who mentioned the Holocaust reminded me that we are told to 'never forget'....
...and of course they are right...

...but how do they make sure we never forget?......they show us the pictures......they tell us the stories.....the museums are full of the remnants, relics & photos of that horrible time during WW2.

We too must never forget.......and a good way to insure that is to remind folks what happened that day.

...sure we daily see evidence of the attack when they show the smouldering ruins............but most of us, not having actually been there, only see a one dimensional view.

.....No, I don't want or need to dwell on carnage.....but why then, does CNN & others insist on our seeing mangled Afghan children in hospitals....or young women wounded.....or little hovels blown away....

....they are appealing to the deepest part of us.....OUR HEARTS, SOULS & CONSCIENCE....and imprinting these scenes in our minds!!

True, maybe the collective thought immediately after the WTC Horror.....was that we, as a nation, couldn't take more scenes after witnessing the act itself.

....but now, folks are starting to wander in their understanding & vision of this war............

....and I just want to say maybe we're ready to be reminded.
