Holiday FReepmail Messages for our Troops Needed!
self ^ | 11-25-01 | patriciaruth

Posted on 11/25/2001 1:16:02 PM PST by patriciaruth

FReepers! I need emails to send to our troops with the Christmas presents that are being mailed out this week to the 101st AIRBORNE. We have 200 plus presents, but only about a third of them so far have a personal message to go with them to show the troops that we care about them and are grateful for their sacrifices for our country and for putting their lives on the line for our freedom.

PLEASE FReepMail me or send an email to my personal email (below) a Dear Soldier note for the Holidays! Do it today, so I can print them out and put them in the box tomorrow.

AND if anyone could also contribute toward purchasing one or more scarves, or contribute toward the postage, just FReepmail me for my snail mail address or use www.paypal.com and pay by credit card using my personal email address (below).

So far, ABOUT 1/3 of the 200 scarves are bought or pledged, and I would like to put someone else's name, not mine on at least some of the 130 scarves yet to be adopted and given to a serviceman pulling duty on Christmas at an observation post or wherever they may be now that the 101st Airborne has been moved. Guess where? In fact, the news is reporting our troops are landing near Kandahar now.

OK, ping list, I really need your help and I really need some patriotic FReepers who care about our troops to send me a FReepmail message to go to our troops.

Link to Silk Scarves for Christmas thread
This has the explanation of why the troops want the silk scarves to help reduce chaffing when they carry the 100 lbs. LBE's.

OK now, what is it you need? What would you like us to do? Do you want letters to be enclosed with the gifts?

I want you to FReepmail me or email me a personal holiday message meant for a soldier. I will print it out (no color, sorry) and put it in the box with the presents that are being mailed out in the next day or two.

I would appreciate it if you could add your name and address or at least your real first name and hometown, to personalize it more for the soldier.

Ooops, should have read this message before I sent the Freepmail. I put my name on it but not my town.

Check is (literally) in the mail. I wanted to send something the other day but I lost the thread.

Are you sure the troops are accepting gifts and mail? I thought mail service to the troops had been stopped because of the Antrax scare.

I have a special Donation Number and address as I arranged to do this before September 11, and before the anthrax, so they know me. I'm an AUSA member. Check out the link above about the scarves.

Thank you so much for doing this. A private e-mail has been sent to you and if you know of a place where we can send actual cards, if they are being accepted, please let us know.

Why FReepmail? You're going to have to cut and paste from somewhere? Maybe if the messages are posted her it'll inspire others to surpass my feeble (but heart-felt) effort.

Dear Soldier,

Hello! Hope you are doing well. I am just one of millions of Americans who greatly appreciate your service to our country and in the war against terrorism. Thank you for all you do. I owe you several beers I'm sure.

There is not a block on any street that is not peppered with American flags - on mailboxes, hanging form the garage, new flagpoles, etc. We are behind you - that will not change.

I believe President Bush when he tells us that you will have all the tools you need to do your job quickly and effectively.

I'm certain your family is very proud of you - I am too. Come home as soon as you can.

May G-d keep you safe,

Charlie & Family
