Prophecy Scholars, What End Times Signs are Playing Out Now?
Enquiring Mind (no pun intended) | 11/27/2001 | MississippiMan

Posted on 11/26/2001 10:25:19 PM PST by MississippiMan

I found myself in a lengthy discussion the other day about the possibility that we are in or near the Biblical end times, and I'd love to hear the thoughts of some of you who have studied this issue.

What end times signs do you think have played out or are playing out now or will play out in the very near future?

Respectful request: this thread is intended to be a discussion between those who do believe in the Bible and its end times prophecies. While anyone is of course free to post, I sure would appreciate it if those of you who don't believe in God would not clutter up the thread with accusations of superstition and such. Thanks...

MM

One key will be the reunification of "all"(both houses) of Israel. This was the two sticks prophecy of Ezekiel 37 that Ariel Sharon read on the Temple Mount last year.

I really don't care if what I say holds water or not. I have already said that I have no proof for my beliefs, obviously, I don't have a leg to stand on. Your responses, and those of AlGone seem pretty negative to me, like this is a competition or something, and your use of terms like surrender and arguement makes me think this is not a discussion I want to be part of. All I said in my first reply was why does the author infer that if one is not a Christian, then one cannot or does not believe in God. Now it comes to arguements, and my surrender! What is wrong with you guys? Why is it so hard for you to accept that someone can believe in God, but not agree with you? I have no need of proof for my beliefs, for my own peace of mind, so why should I want to try to prove anything to you? Why can you not have a normal conversation about God without referring to the bible?

If you toss The Messiah's words into the trash in these verses then you have trashed the whole Bible.

Sorry, but I don't see how Jesus' prophecies in these passages conflict at all with the view I have suggested. I just interpret him as prophesying the collapse of the Roman Empire--a prediction which came true.

creation of Israel as a state again in 1948

Isn't this one supposed to be rebuilding the temple on the temple mount?

I have become convinced the Book of Daniel describes past events, in particular Alexander's conquest.

That's interesting, and quite possibly true. Revelation, on the other hand, has so many metaphorical references to Rome, that I am inclined to think that it predicts the collapse of the Empire. Non-Biblical writers of the time, e.g., Suetonius, were predicting the same thing, and noticing signs of decline all around them. "The lights of civilization are going out," Suetonius said, "all over the world." (Twelve Caesars)

I think it takes a lot of 'faith' to believe that the Messiah was only talking about the fall of the Roman Empire especially given that He knew that much greater empires were to come ... empires that would see the harvest of souls exponentially increased over anything known or even dreamed of in the times of the Apostles. Then looking at The Revelation, written by John, the Apostle whom Jesus loved ... one must suspect that The Christ would not use the term 'the' end when a much greater ending was later described.

Stuart, hoping that we can once and for all move past this so we can get back to the topic at hand, please take a look at the relevant passage in my original post:

Respectful request: this thread is intended to be a discussion between those who do believe in the Bible and its end times prophecies.

There are a LOT of threads that correspond far more closely to the discussion you seem to want to engage in, but this one was pretty clearly defined, no?

It shows the depth of man's depravity. Man now believes that he is god and can create life.

Well, Allah is the Arab word for God, so the Arab Christians no doubt use the term in their own language. However, the god of the Koran named Allah is not the same as Jehovah of the Bible. The characteristics and attributes of each and expectations of man by each are contrary and can't be reconciled to one another.

Perhaps it is, if only in the same sense that the Jesus of the apocryphal gospels is meant to be understood as the same person as Our Lord. It may be useful to think of the Koran as simply the last and strangest of the apocrypha.

5b - The coming one-world religion We are definitely seeing this as at so many events many religions are coming together in unity in order to strive for peace. Now, you will feel good about that if you believe that there are many paths to God. (I don't!)

I read or heard that when Billy Graham spoke at the National Memorial Service for the 9-11 victims, that that was the first time that God's word was spoken to every country at the same time in every language.

Please don't feel guilty about not studying lately. I haven't either for a long time, but that does not mean that my mind and heart are not close to God.

It's threads like this one that get me remembering those unforgettable Scriptures that seem to certainly relate to the times we are living in now!

I decided to leave that Bible open on my coffee table instead of tucking it in the drawer!

Thanks for jogging my memory with the verses you posted!
