I'm getting some strange results on the new AT&T Broadband service. Pages load slowly in comparison to how fast @Home used to load them, but speed tests show a fast connection (1.2 Megabits per second). Two different testing services just reported the same 1.2 Mbps download speed, but the service is slooowwwww . . .
Any other new AT&T subscribers seeing this?

Your connection may be at 1.2Megabits/second but the server is connected to a 56k modem...

Microsoft announced that it would help AT&T or Comcast buy Excite to keep it out of the hands of AOL. I wonder how much are the rate increases to customers going to be to cover this when all is done?

While yours might be slow mine was crawling earlier with my Adelphia connection. They completed migrating my are to their network. I ran some speed tests earlier tonight at DSLReports.com and got speeds of Megapath in San Jose 112 down and 106 up. Linkline in LA 31 down and 106 up. that's down from 1,700 - 2,200 a month and 128 down or so before the breakup. Its only been up for 4 hours so Ill give them a week or so to get the bugs worked out before I jump to any conclusions.
Anyone know why this message has been popping up not only when I go to various sites over the past month but other people with different network ISPs are also getting it fairly frequently? I put it down at first to problems with ExciteAtHome but Im hearing about it from to many different sources.
