Well since I have no plans to move down south I guess I don't have to sweat the question, do I? Not that I have anything in particular against the south, mind you. I was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina for the better part of nine years. It was OK but I don't have any real desire to go back there. I can't think of anything in Mississippi or Alabama or Arkansas or Louisiana that would tempt me to live there. Ditto for Virginia and North Carolina and Tennessee. You couldn't pay me to live in Florida or Atlanta. So I guess you're safe.

of 1,945 votes cast, 54 percent voted to approve Commemorative Air Force as the new name of the organization. Other names on the ballot included Ghost Squadron, Heritage Air Force and Heritage Flying Museum. Ghost Squadron received 34 percent of the votes

Back when I voted, I remember hearing the number as being 1211 "Colonels" to vote.

A demo-rat election, I don't know?

That number 1211 is stuck in my mind as being important in the election.

Let me "Set the record straight" here. I didn't mean I actually voted. What I meant was "Ghost Squadron" Is my choice.

You see, I grew up down in Brownsville, TX. That was back in the 40's-50's. I Remember when the old Harlingen (Tx) Air Force Base was still active.
I also remember, very well, when it was closed and later when it became the CAF HQ.

I remember (1963-64 in that time frame) when I first heard about CAF.
(Heck, I remember "Our Boys" comming home from WWII...true..I was fairly young at the time :) )

Anyway...
It was really "Cool". They would ride around in old Model T Ford cars painted Grey and always with the Confederate Flag flying.
(I had an old 1937 Dodge...It was my Grandpa's car.. long story..but he gave it to me....I had it painted "Battle Ship Grey"...Drove it to parties, barbecues,...the Rebel Ball and the Airshows.. Ah! Those were the days :) )

Those were fun days. The "Rebel Ball" (That was a kind of "Fundraiser" for CAF). Most people in the Lower Rio Grande Valley area of South Texas went to the Rebel Ball. ( No Stinking PC back then.....Just Good Fun)

From the very beginning CAF was always refered to as the "Ghost Squadron". The CAF "Airshows" in Harlingen were called Ghost Squadron Airshow.
For me Ghost Squadron and CAF will always be one and the same anyway :)

The CAF/Ghost Squadron Has, and continues to, perserve Our Great heritage of those wounderful Heros of WWII. God Bless 'em!

When they moved CAF to Midland I kinda lost track of them what with my business and all.

just a fan of aviation & all who did so much 3 grandfather generations ago,,black white the redmans’ contributions to confusing the hell out of japanese in the pacific & our nisei in europe against the germans,,confederate memorabilia,in using the term today,hurts no one,neither takes freedom or threatens to take freedom from anyone/
liberalism & its octapussseseses tentacles are never deterred or swayed from its next job on the menu of grievances,,gents, they were successful,whatever board of fearful ree publucans or democrats occupied the panel which did the name change,,long as liberalism reigns,as it still does on school boards county government wherever they roost ,CAF will get another damn letter from some group- or other demanding a cease and desist order, or else get a court summons ,maybe on the basis of wages paid or unpaid, property tax, carbon pollution,danger to bird populations, squirrels get run over,no matter what, the left & their apparatus,do not relent,they have been compelled to at last after 8 maybe 30 years,to get stopped at the damn traffic light I know them like I know every component of my sound system,tell them to go *&**^^**^^^$*(*&!
