Next: An ID Chip Planted in Your Body?
A New Jersey surgeon has embedded under his skin tiny computer chips that can automatically transmit personal information to a scanner, a technology that his employer hopes will someday be widely used as a way to identify people.

I'm out since '85.
Good luck and stay safe...
So,,,let me say publically, they'll never take my guns while I'm alive and they'll never place a chip in my royal Irish ass.
No bravado intended, just the way it's going to be.
Who needs the virtual sex chip when you can have 'net sex free.......
Nobody's gonna live to put one of those things in me.

Oh...
...ummmmm...
...errrrr...
...well, if it saves just ONE child / lost pet / prisoner of war / my own ass when I can't find it with both hands...
hey...you...yes, you...weren't we talking about this TWO YEARS ago? welcome to TODAY...I'm getting a beer...
As for this 'doctor/employee/guina pig/idiot', he can take his little old 'chip, complete with its lil' ol antenna and shove it up his arse....stick a scanner on the flusher of the john and observe himself!
Scanner works from 4' away....hmmmmm....imagine what a someone with less than honorable intentions could do with a hand-held scanner...just walk along behind/beside people and 'scan' for info....
Get me one!
I need a link!
What's the difference between this and FINGERPRINTS (which uniquely identify each of us already)?
Am I missing something here - or is it just the usual paranoia being hyped-up again?
Next?
Neither do 'chips' planted in the body, sweetheart.
Plant enough facial-recognition cameras along with a few select concealed finger-print 'scanners' and you can do without the 'chips'.
BTW - Don't you think whatever 'frequency band' these supposed chip-based systems use could be effectively jammed -
- or the area of skin where the 'chip' is covered over by an aluminum patch? (Body tissues are notoriously *poor* RF transmission mediums, so, shield the side normally *open* and you're home free.)
Try again sweety ...
Better than fingerprints, cookie.
Man, you haven't seen a lot of plans for this kind of technology, or maybe you don't want to think about it.
The ability to be able to "track" missing children...which can't be done with a scanner when they're held hostage by abductors.
Of course, you may think I'm a frootiecake for saying so, but that would be predictable from you. All part of your charm. Even though it is technologically possible and this is a such a promising first step. Heh.
Nighty-bye...
Six-hundred, threescore, and six.
Without a large number of street cops and grunts those who want to go down this road are going to need to import a whole bunch of troops to enforce this and I would expect that may alienate even more of our armed forces and police.
By the way I put up a new bump list for threads of special interest to those doing the job. I have called it donut watch. It only has a small number of articles now but I am certain it will get more.
Stay well - stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown
