The government seems hell-bent in its effort to limit the suspects in the anthrax mystery to a domestic loner. First, the FBI's behavioral analysis came up with the profile of a lone wolf based on its "exacting handwriting and linguistic analysis" of one letter that contained 18 words and another that contained 27 words. It suggested that the writer of these two letters was a single disgruntled American, not connected to the jihadist terrorists of Sept. 11 (even though the letter used the plural pronoun "we" and began with an underlined "9-11").

Clue #1: in the rest of the world including the middle east, the tragic date was 11-9.
Once again, it reminds me of the rumor floated in Geneva at the convention of biologists, where it was said that the German branch of Greenpeace and some people with connections to clinton broke the story that the virus was mailed by a biologist who wanted to encourage a government contract for some sort of anti-anthrax product.
Now we see a clinton connection in this WSJ story, because clinton, anthrax, Admiral Crowe, and BioPort were all intertwined.
In fact, one of the results of the anthrax mailings is precisely what was predicted in Geneva: BioPort is right now supplying vaccine to some of the congressional aides, even though the paperwork hasn't been finished. If Gore had been elected, BioPort would have automatically had the inside track with these vaccine contracts, continuing from the clinton years. With Bush in charge, it wasn't so certain. But I imagine that Leahy and Daschle were probably involved in the whole clinton mess earlier, including the forced vaccinations of our troops and the putting of a stream of money into Admiral Crowe's pockets--and presumably those of his Democrat cronies.
I wish someone would investigate this story further, either an investigative reporter or our intelligence services. It's a scandal waiting to break, IMHO.
Cropdusters, cropdusters, cropdusters.
gee, I'm a regular Sherlock Holmes.
I agree. Even if BioPort isn't implicated in the anthrax mailings, there is enough chicanery involving its acquisition and contractual awards to suggest major corruption "at the highest levels".
The liklihood of the mainstream media conducting such an investigation, however, is slim and none. Why go to all that effort only to implicate their hero, Clinton, and his confederates?
Now, if it were the Republicans who had greased the skids for El-Hibri...
Cropdusters, cropdusters, cropdusters.
You misunderstand. The terrorists' interest in cropdusting had nothing to do with broadcasting anthrax spores. Nothing whatsoever...
The cropduster angle was only a back-up plan. Had Atta and the boys been unable to hijack commercial airliners and fly them into the WTC and the Pentagon, they would've heisted a couple of Agcats and crashed them into a Dairy Queen and a revival tent.
Don't over-analyze...
Clue #2. Despite Clue #1 because the letters were mailed in the USA it is probable the sender was in the USA and was familiar with the American dating convention.
Fortunately our FBI is run by people who do not waste their time suspecting fellow government employees of anti-American terrorism.
tbeatty implied that since the letter-writer used the American convention the FBI is right to look for a domestic.
I pointed out his error.
You may want to read the article, Dr. Watson. You seize upon one alleged 'inconsistency' with the foreign-origin hypothesis ignoring the meat of Epstein's argument (Saudi ownership of a company involved with anthrax).
Not only that, but the letters were written English, and we all know Arabs speak Arabic. How could we have missed that?
