From Boston.com:
JUNTA SENTENCING UPDATE: A Middlesex Superior Court judge has sentenced Thomas Junta, 44, convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal beating death of fellow hockey father Michael Costin, to 6 to 10 years in MCI-Cedar Junction prison in Walpole. The prosecution had recommended a sentence of 6 to 10 years; the defense had asked for a split sentence of 12 months in jail and some probation time

Sounds about right. Where's he serving the time---MCI Concord or Walpole?

Rock on! Law and order comes to Massachussets for the first time. Time to rot you animal.
Too bad this Judge wasn't on baby-killer Louise Woodward's trial.

In a sentence like this, will he get paroled early if he behaves himself? Is it one of those serve 16 months and you're out, or does it mean he has to go at least 6 yrs?

Question for all: Why is Junta's history pertinent, but Costin's is not? The Judge seemed insulted that the defense mentioned Constin's past.

16 months and your out sounds good.

He's attacked by a guy with a skate and gets 6-10 for self defense. If he was a woman who just murdered her newborn, it would have been probation! Thats justice for you!

Question for all: Why is Junta's history pertinent, but Costin's is not? The trial was all about Costin's history, in particular his death.

I saw that. Does that mean he'll serve 2-3 years? I wonder how the time served to actual sentence compares in that state.
Also a note to this guy's defenders: This guy was removed from his home for beating his wife in front of their children. His abuse is described this way. He held his wife's head in his hand and hit her continuously. His children were crying for him to stop, but he assured them everything would be okay.
This man is an animal. I still don't believe we've heard the full scoop on him. You watch, there'll be a flood of stories now that will make him look like a terrible monster. And I wil have been too late to affect his sentence. That's too bad!

I wonder how much time this guy will actually serve? If he behaves himself(no more beating deaths),he could be out in 16-24 months.

Should have read, "...it will have been too late..."

It might come with special long distance rates and frequent flier miles on the program of your choice. Hal'al and Kosher menues at the commissary. Check with your nearby Massachusets district attorney's office.

Thomas Junta sentenced 6 to 10 years.I watched the sentencing on Court-TV. I would like to thank this judge for sentencing him the way he did. I thought he deserved even more time, but six to ten is good enough.

Yes, MCI sponsors a prison. However, Sprint is looking to get into the market. They claim they'll be able to build a prison where you'll be able to hear a pin drop clear across the cell block. Personally, as the first inmate, I'd like to nominate Carrot Top.

any comments from any of the jurors who decided involuntary manslaughter?

Is "Junta" a Portuguese name? I always thought that town was largely white trash Irish-America Kennedy/Kerry worshippers.
Sounds like a standard sentence to me. I hope he will be in a maximum security facilty.

He was insulted by the defenses depiction of the perps past as non-violent. That wasn't the case. The judge was offended that they were untruthful.
