Human Events features Jim Robinson and Free Republic
Human Events ^ | March 12, 2002 | Joseph A. D'Agostino

Posted on 03/12/2002 10:16:09 AM PST by who knows what evil?

I was the recipient of a very pleasant surprise when I retrieved my weekly copy of the conservative newspaper, HUMAN EVENTS, from my mailbox a few minutes ago. On page 12, in Joe D'Agostino's 'Conservative Spotlight' column, my eye was caught immediately by a black-and-white photo of Free Republic founder Jim Robinson!

This is a very flattering article; Jim discusses the history of Free Republic; the mission statement; and the situation with the LAT/WP legal entanglement.

Please keep in mind that HUMAN EVENTS has a subscriber base approaching 50,000, and is read by a number of "movers and shakers" in the Washington area. Hopefully, this prominent article in HUMAN EVENTS will help swell the ranks of both posters and lurkers here at Free Republic!

Where are you Michael Moore?...a little guy is taking on the conglomerates. You should be foaming at the mouth over this one.

That guy only foams at the mouth when he sees a Twinkey.

Human Events is a fine publication, and was a favorite of one of my favorite people- Ronald Reagan.

"MEET JIMROB, virtual founder of online conservatism. The inventor of the 80,000-member FreeRepublic.com discusses the movement he was instrumental in creating."

Thanks, Jim, Human Events, and FReepers all. We are now 'officially' A MOVEMENT!!!

You might be interested to note this thread. The author of this book is the managing editor at Human Events. I'm not suggesting a quid pro quo, but we need to support our own.

Well, you and your husband did good.

We'll get the good company and probably the bad company that monitors all the conservative sites and publications..... But we can deal with the bad and appreciate the good.

My copy has been sitting on the table for the last couple of hours as I have been lurking. I will now read the article. Thanks for the headsup!

Thanks. :-)

We tried to get him to come down to our studio so that we could do a really nice portrait of him but, not surprisingly, he said he just couln't spare the time. (It's a 45 minute drive.) I think that the real reason is that, for many people, having a professional portrait done ranks up there with speaking in public and having a root canal. LOL! At least we were able to get that one, using the flag as a background to cover up Condit's office window.

From the 'archives'--

Good News for Conservatives--Doug Fiedor

"Many reporters and editors from most news organizations have something in common with this scribbler and upwards to 100,000 other Americans. Once or twice a day they wander over to the Free Republic(11) web site to scan the articles chosen by readers to post and comment on. Take it from someone who is on both sides of that deal, editors and reporters have an avid interest in reading what the general public thinks of their reporting -- or to see if their reporting will even be of enough interest to get posted on Free Republic."
