For all those too busy doing housework right now, I'll bump this thread later on when you have time.

Could be somewhat overstated. Japanese men live in the smallest houses in the industrialized world, and so the time it takes to do housework would be less.

If God had intended for men to do housework, he wouldn't have given us sports.

My house work entails vacuuming (love my Rainbow), and cooking.

I do NOT do laundry, never.

How about tearing up old carpeting and padding in advance of the carpeting guys ... in order to better fasten down the flooring in order to eliminate squeaks ... does that count? It certainly qualifies as a royal pain in the butt ... ;)

Men work outside the home and provide the money for everything.
When men are home they help the women as needed.

Women work in the home to provide a nurturing environment and raise children (including schooling them).

If you don't have this arrangement then you are failing yourselves.

I wonder if they also did a study on just how many hours per week each gender does, paying for the house and it's expenses. Isn't this 'house work' too?

Very interesting article, I don't really care about a bunch of statistics though. My wife and I maintian two households as our home is in FL and my work keeps me Atlanta. My wife is an accountant and works very hard and long hours as I do. We spend weekends together when we can and I help her with housework as much as possible when I am there. I do this because I Love Her and will do anything to help her. We also have raise 4 children together, the youngest being our daugther who is now 22.

We have an apartment in Atlanta that I maintain on a regular basis which means that I vacuum, cook, clean bathrooms, do dishes and laundry on a daily basis. When I am in FL I help her do the same there, we share cooking and cleaning and we share grocery shopping together and apart as needs demand.

I also spent several days steam cleaning all the carpets in our FL home prior to Christmas to perpare the house for guests etc. My wife was busy getting extra bedding together and managing the meals etc. for our guests. We both took turns with the cooking and cleaning chores and we both had our turn with dishpan hands.*S* I suggest to you that this man and his woman spend more time with housework than any of those in your statistics. I suggest about 40+ hours a week each with all the work to be done and we haven't gotten to the yard work yet or the addition that we built to the house last OCT. etc. or the fact that I wired more lights and security etc.

I think we have your stats beat by a long shot here and you will please note that I said WE and not I. WE work our tails off for each other and we both have learned to appreciate it and have found that it is a great blessing to us both.*S* If you and your spouse or significant other are not doing that now then I can only hope and pray that you find kind of realtionship of love and appreciation for each other.

It is not unusual for this man to spend many hours a week and drive 5 hours one way on a weekend to help his wife do these chores, amoung other things of course.*EG* My incentive to do this is very simple, I really do Love my wife and family and she/they feel the same way. I thank GOD for them too as they are a real comfort to me.

GOD Bless you all,

RAWGUY

Japanese men do only four hours of cooking, cleaning and other housework a week, the study found, compared to the 16 hours American men spend a week on such tasks.

4 hours ???? Taking out the trash and fixing broken things around the house takes MAYBE 2 hours a week.

Wife doesn't work so she does the rest while I play with our son and study.

Real men don't do housework( unless it involves tools cars or fixing something).
