Thank you for alerting me to your interest in this regards. My comments were in no way meant to dissuade any person from defending him or herself or from receiving firearms training. The concern I stated pertained to liability issues that would attach to the City of Tallahassee should it provide firearms or firearms training to citizens. I think he missed the point, I think the City would have FAR LESS liability if we provided or at least ENCOURGED firearms TRAINING by qualified instructors in firearms safety..

Read: 'The insurance company would raise our liability insurance premiums'. Insurance companies and trial lawyers as a group seem to be on the same team when it comes to 2nd amendment issues.

I don't know what the mayor thinks really, but thank God we are in Florida, in the capital of Wisconsin (Madison), you likely would have gotten a memo explaining that he doesn't talk to gun nuts.

Hmmm, interesting response from the mayor. I can understand his concerns about liability, but only if the instructors left out the safety part of teaching the victims about handling firearms--hardly likely. Thanks for the ping. The original idea makes a lot of sense to me.
