PETA wants Barkley

Charles Barkley has blasted PETA. Now the group wants him to become one of its spokesmen. The former hoops star stunned animal lovers when he protested the NBAs decision to switch from leather balls to synthetic ones by saying, Animals are only good to be eaten and tested. He ate a hamburger, in protest, he said, and went on to attack People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals by saying, I hope those PETA people are outside by my car . . . I will run over them like dogs. It sounded like mad cow disease was getting the better of you, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk wrote in a letter to Barkley on Wednesday. This stuff isnt funny. Boasting about being cruel, as if its synonymous with being cool, should be out of bounds. . . . Please do something kind, something decent, to make up for these harmful messages. . . . May we hear from you and see you on the air, with a veggie burger in hand and an admonition to kids to be kind? Barkleys office didnt return calls for comment.

Yes Charles. Please do something positive, unlike the PETA WACKOS!

I don't know tons about his politics, but I think this is great (I know he threatened to run for Governor of Alabama). If more celebrities (sports or otherwise) would realize that PETA advocates terrorism instead of just finding homes for wayward dogs and cats, we would be a lot better off.

There must be a mistake! Doesn't Barkley head the group "People Eating Tasty Animals"?
To: Exnihilo
Say what you will about Sir Charles, but you gotta admit that he calls 'em like he sees 'em, and the hell with what anybody thinks about it.

Get em bread truck. The "round mound of rebounds" strikes again. From an Auburn boy no less. Go Charles!
Avoid cruelty to plants, eat more meat.

Barkley for Governor! Polls show clinton-lite Seigleman is in trouble. I'd be happy to hear Barkley endorse the Republican nominee. While in B'ham for the Bruno's Senior Golf Tourney, Barkley went on a tirade about the run-down condition of downtown B'ham.

Barkley is a republican. That's all I know.

The country group Alabama has already endorsed primary and general election front-runner Bob Riley-- Chuck should get on the bandwagon!

Barkley's post game show on TNT is more entertaining than the NBA Playoffs most of the time!
Charles may be off base sometimes, but he says what he thinks..
To: Exnihilo
Back in his Philly days, he once chastised a teammate for not trying hard enough by getting in his face and saying "You're stealing money, man!" I knew I liked him from that moment on. Knowing he's a Republican doesn't surprise me in the least. I have to say that Mike Piazza being Republican kind of surprised me, what with playing in Los Angeles so many years, and being obsessed with his hair in the Pert commercials.

I wish more folks were like Charles - that is, not politically correct.

As I recall, he gave an interview to Limbaugh in his newsletter.
