Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz County
Suspicious men seen near PG&E substation
Police Sunday afternoon investigated a report of "suspicious" males, possibly of Middle Eastern descent, peering over the fence at a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. substation from the parking lot of Scotts Valley Fitness on Mount Hermon Road, officials said, but police found nothing suspicious upon their arrival.

Hmmmm,..........given that it's Santa Cruz County, probably just some EarthFirsters looking for a new target.

Ping.

Oh we've had environmentalists attack our substations before. We had a tranformer tower cut down near Gilroy causing quite a problem for the county, and we had some attack near the Moss Landing power plant. Was it in the 80's or early 90's? Can't remember.

It's all a mistake. They were peeing over the fence, and a stray 50,000 volt spark hitched a ride on one of the streams back to it's source.

Out of sight, out of mind. Nothing to see here...

We cant go around racially profiling these swarthy males who just happen to be peering in groups at water towers and energy stations!
To: EggsAckley
Anything that seems suspicious has nothing to do with terrorism. If a train de-rails or an apartment building blows up it is purely coincidental. Nothing to see here, move along folks. Oh and don't even think of profiling middle-eastern men because they have done nothing to deserve it.

Nah, they were probably just off the boat and had never seen electricity before. It's like when an Iowa farmer goes to New York City for the first time and looks up at the Empire State Building. < /sarcasm>

I remember that Moss Landing thing well. It was on that phony, GD Earthday, in '91 or '92.
