STANLEY WINS THE NOMINATION
It was a tough fight up in Leadville, but Rick walked away from the convention with the Libertarian Party of Colorado’s official nomination.

After the first ballots were cast Rick’s opponent Steve D’Ippolito was in the lead by two votes. However, since neither Rick, nor Steve achieved a majority of all the votes, there was a second ballot needed.

Rick ended up winning a majority on the second vote. Attendees at the event feel that the candidate speeches prior to the second ballot were what eventually turned the tide in Rick’s favor.

You can read more about the bruising floor fight online here Stanley Secures Libertarian Nomination - http://www.stanley2002.org/release5_20_02.htm

THE WAR ON PRIVACY
Bush recently awarded the FBI broad new domestic surveillance powers. Rick thinks this is a very bad idea, to say the least. Here is some of what Rick had to say in response to this new war on privacy.

“Yesterday the director of the FBI announced that the agency's mission has been altered. It's not a law enforcement agency any longer. Now it's a domestic spy agency. It will poke and pry its way through America's mail -- and e-mail, and phone calls -- without even the semblance of probable cause and without a judicial warrant.” - Rick Stanley, "The War on Privacy", May 30, 2002

READ MY LIPS. DON'T WATCH MY HANDS.
In Bush's latest attempt to pull the wool over America's eyes, he has slapped gun owners and gun rights supporters once again. Despite releasing an "official"; directive supporting the individual right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment, Ashcroft and the U.S. Attorney’s office is continuing to back unconstitutional gun laws. This time they argued to uphold Washington D.C.’s handgun ban.

To read more about this slap in the face to America's gun owners please read the editorial online at: http://www.stanley2002.org/editorial5_31_02.htm

Supporters: Please be sure to remember this incident when speaking to gun owners, and others, who still believe the Republicans can represent their interests effectively in Congress. When the President, and the Attorney General ignore their own words, how can the GOP promise they will keep their word with gun owners?

Those who go back on their word -- not to mention their oaths of office -- deserve to pay for it by not being re-elected! This is the only way to ensure honorable leaders.

It’s time for gun owners to vote Libertarian.
This time make your vote count.
