Have the democrats given up on Texas already in the off year elections? You decide.

It's truly revealing of the RAT party that they realize that sending their national leaders to Texas would hurt local candidates.

Holding the convention in El Paso guarantees that it will get little press coverage in the state. El Paso is a forgotten outpost as far as the state media is concerned.

The Democrats might as well have held the convention in Boise.

Why are they holding the convention in El Paso of all places? (scratching head)

You'd think the Demos would hold their state convention in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Austin.

Yeah, what are they afraid of? That they might make their convention "too political"? LOL

Some party leaders have been concerned that bringing national party leaders into
Texas could alienate independent voters who support Bush.

Looks like the RATS have already written the Texas GOP campaign ads for them.

All the Texas GOP needs to do is run ads of the current Texas RAT candidates with
their national RAT buddies, especially if there are any extant photos showing them hugging
and laughing together at earlier functions.

Sanchez with Rep. McKinney? If it exists, there would be a photo to finish off Sanchez.

Or just run ads of the cancellees, with the questions: Why did Gephardt (etc.) cancel...
they don't want you to know that when Sanchez, etc. are elected, they'll be
part of the Dashcle machine...

The only thing I can think of is that they are trying to fire up a big Hispanic turnout for the "Dream Ticket," although San Antonio would have accomplished that, as well.

I guess they want to accomplish that without publicizing to the rest of the state that they are bunch of liberals.

So, they tell the state GOP by this that political ads using a pairing of national Democrats with state Democrats is a recipe for GOP victory this fall in Texas? Thanks!

Mind you, there are some pockets of strong liberalism in Texas--though mind you, the only really liberal part of Texas is in Austin, where the main campus of the University of Texas is located.

That's why I'm still shaking my head wondering why the Demo state convention is out in the boonies of the state; they could have gotten way better press in Austin.

El Paso is a forgotten outpost as far as the state media is concerned.

That's because no one wants to go there. This is one point on which I agree with the media.

The RATs in Texas are done. When all the yellow dogs die out (soon, probably), Texas will be a one party state again.

Ron Kirk will oppose President Bush's judicial nominees

That message should be reverberate across the state and will finish off Kirk.

The tougher challenge is to beat Sharp.

PLEASE using the term "liberal" is an insult to Adam Smith, James Madison and John Locke. These men were philosophical champions of free markets and political democracy, not government control and economic leveling.

PLEASE call the LEFT...the "Left Wing", "Far Left Wing" and/or "Communists".

The only thing "modern day liberals" are all about is "liberty" for sex and drugs. The Democrats WE have come to know are for "government control and economic leveling" and liberal amounts of sex and drugs. LOOK at their most successful leader "Bill Clinton".

Every Republican or Conservative that USES the word "LIBERAL" perpetuates the MEDIA'S game of insulting the "Right Wing" and the "Far Right Wing" with name calling while they pat their friends on the head with the quaint name of "liberal".

WE must stop the madness and call these people LEFTISTS!

Guess Lieberman got the message during the Presidential campaign that Texans mean it when they say Don't Mess With Texas. He and Gore couldn't have been more offensive if they tried. The rest of the big RATS see the handwriting on the wall. As a Texan I'm delighted they are staying away. There goes any remote chance anybody in the world will even notice they are having their little state convention.

King 'Rat Terry McAwful will likely still come to Texas to run the Demorats' campaign with some DNC funds. I say this because he brought a bunch of scampaign techniques to a non-partisan Houston mayoral race.

His techniques included a "knock-and-drag" effort to intimidate voters to go to the polls (stopping by some houses 3 times on the runoff election day, hard to say "no!" to that group of paid "volunteers"), a racist "Orlando Sanchez is Anti-Hispanic" poster campaign in hispanic neighborhoods, a racist taped phone campaign to black neighborhoods with a message from one of Byrd's relatives about his dragging death, ad nauseum.

Don't think for a second that the Dems are staying away from Texas in 2002. They plan to win and know that they must appear "moderate" and keep the national figures in a low profile. Clinton and other figures will still come to Texas for fundraisers, operatives will work from behind the scenes.

To those that it applies, I openly call Anarchist-Socialists. I find many on the extreme left-end of the radio dial to fit this description. Some are honest about it. Others use the term "progressive".

The only way that they ever seem to sway people over to their side is through lies and deceptions.

McAwful promised the Texas Rats half their money back last year, so they will dedicate some resources here. I think they will be fighting like mad to take at least one key state office(Lt. Gov, Gov, AG) or they can write off Texas and several U.S. House seats through redistricting.
