I pondered this while lying in my bed this morning.

If he we still alive he would've put the proof out there by now. It isnt that difficult to get a video out in a timely manner.

Anybody have any thoughts?

I have thought he is dead since Tora Bora. If he were alive he would be taunting us. His ego would demand he be seen and heard.

How do you know what he would've done? Maybe putting out a video is what you would've done.

Assuming that he's still alive, he could very well be hiding somewhere that we'd never think to even look, waiting to see what events unfold.

Until we see the cold dead corpse (or bones), I think we should assume like a jack in the box he's just hiding and waiting until the weasel can pop out and attack us again. Strange though not much is being said by Bush or anyone else about him. I would think the CIA has some idea what the status of this murderer is.

That's one view. On the other hand, if alive, it would be a good time to be quite while he rebuilds his strength and organization.

The reason he would put out a new video is to enhance recruitment of new terrorists. If he already has enough recruits or if he is leery of potential spies infiltrating his organization as new recruits he would decide that laying low and allowing speculation serves his purpose better at this time.

I have thought about this often since the Tora Bora bombing and I can't figure ANY rational reason for him to lie low.

I think of the PR battle he would win by showing the world he was missed by the mighty US Military. A LIVE appearance would send shock waves throughout the world.

Two conclusions:
1. He is not rational.
2. He is DEAD.

I am sure of the former but pray for the latter.

I disagree. On one hand if he is alive and free, he should have released a video to cheer up the faithful, UNLESS, he is saving his next video for a post attack. On the other hand, if he is alive but NOT free (my favorite alternative), he is visiting with some Yankee "technicians" in several secret buildings on Diego Garcia. There he is enjoying life, working on his autobiography, improving his health through modern chemsitry, listening to very loud rap music 24 hours a day and learning to play nice and share with his new American friends. In this alternative, we will NEVER know UBL's final fate. I'm sure, however, that before he goes to the lowest of the Muslim hells, he'll issue a tape or two damning his former associates, many of whom would have become unavailable for contact.

If he has been captured, we will never know. If he is dead, we probably would never know. And, if he were alive, the faithful would have been heartened by now or in the near future.

Because we need him alive.

We need him alive so that when we're ready, we can rattle our sabers and demand that Saddam Hussein turn him over, because we have proof that he's hiding there.

Saddam will cry "he's not here" we will all yell "he's lying! can't you see he's lying" then demand that the US military go in after bin Laden, over Saddam's dead body if necessary.

After Saddam is destroyed, we will find out that the treacherous bin Laden foiled our attempts at capturing him yet again, and is now hiding in ______ (fill in the blank).

Repeat procedure.

I don't see why everyone is in such a hurry to catch Usama anyway. Hell! It took us a year to catch Robert Blake!
