No poll other than Zogby's special sauce poll shows the President being affected here. Admittedly, House Republicans are, in the public's eyes, in trouble on this issue. But they've got the recently
overwhelmingly passed "Reform" laws to point to to the folks back home.
Gephardt's remarks are more likely the wishful dreaming of a man who is seeing his career ending as a minority leader of a losing party. Let's hope so. :)

The only chairs they'll be picking up are their own when they are voted out of office. The entire corporate scandal is Clinton's Legacy. Look at who profited - high profile Democrats - while the working man got stiffed. I hope the do pursue this ---->>>> The Greed of the 90's.

The only 40 seats the dems will pick up are the ones left behind when they go on recess because the floor needs cleaning.

In his dreams. They have NO issues, (after the Republicans rolled over for them).
Once the war gets cranked up in October, everyone will want to vote the party of George W.
Be there or be square.

Dick must have forgotten to take his Thorazine this morning.

Can imagine Gephardt and Daschle praying every morning praying that the stock market tanks just so they can score some cheap points. And they accuse Repubs of exploiting the War on Terror.

The check's in the mail, the dog ate my homework, I won't.....never mind. Yada yada yada. Ol' Dickey boy is thinking again. That was his first mistake.
All he has done is set himself up to say in December....."We could have"..."I'm still a minority, damn it."

As much as i hate to admit it, don't underestimate Zogby's ability to track what's going on. He was the closest to being correct on the presidential race in 2000....

"...winning the House" has become more important than taking care of the business of the people. It is politics of destruction - business as usual - for the politically bankrupt Democraps. Is wish 'dickie" and his crowd a fond farewell come November.

When asked how, Gephardt said the Easter Bunny was going to bring them to him.

Gephard has been promising the House for a while now. If he can't get it this time around they will "deal" with him and get a new Minority Leader. He isn't a very popular man with the Democrats, not to mention everyone else.
To: Recovering_Democrat
...has told senior party Democratic party leaders the party could pick up as many as 40 House seats if the continuously unfolding corporate scandals can be kept on the political radar screen until November, according to sources. Correct copy after adjusting for spelling errors...
"If you keep me as the "big head", I will see to it our toadies in the media will keep up the propaganda that pubbies are to blame for the corporate scandals while at the same time spiking any stories about democrap culpability and we may be able to steal 40 more elections!">
THE MEDIA IS THE REAL ENEMY!

I don't trust ANY one poll not when they are up for a person or issue I favor, and not when they are down for the same person or issue. Polls are NOT scientific. To fool people into thinking they are, pollsters merely cloak themselves in the legitimate mathematical discipline of statistical analysis. However, it is extraordiniarly easy to skew poll results with:
->question wording,
->question order,
->day of the week and time of day a respondent is questioned,
->who the respondents are (adults, registered voters, likely voters, etc.),
->the number of questions asked,
->sample size,
->weighting required to "ensure" randomness due to high number of refusals to participate,
->weighting required to "ensure" "fair" representation of different political points of view.
At best, a group of polls taken over a period of time and averaged, might give an approximation of genuine public attitudes on the subject polled.

If that werew true, then Bush would have won in 2000 by about 5% and would have taken a number of states that went for Gore. I agree about the wording question order and all that, but Zogby is good. The sad truth is Zogby was right in 2000, Bush coasted on his lead and almost lost.
To: irish guard
If the Dems win Congress, then they will be blocking Bush, and setting him up to lose in 2004. A 2002 Dem Congress would encourage Hillary to run in 2004. If we got Pres. Hillary with a Dem Congress, the USA would never recover.

I still remember Peter Jennings on the day AFTER the 1992 elections announcing that the economy had now grown for the 6th straight month. Before the election, he was always bad-mouthing the economy. He had those economic figures for the past 5 months, but he sat on them. That was the last time I watched network news. They are totally corrupted by their liberal bias. They do NOT present the news, just their views.

I recall back in 1998, Newt Gingrich was predicting roughly the same gains for the Republicans for roughly the same reason...presidential scandal (except then the presidential scandals actually existed and actually involved the President). I also recall Newt ended up resigning after the GOP actually lost seats. You'd think El Poco Loco Rojo Dicko would have learned from Newt's example.
