You know I hate most lawyers about as much as I do bankers and Islamist.
I reserve comments on any lawyer that would try to get this guy off on something as stupid and insignificant as this.

Fine. That reservation will not stop the lawyer from using this incident to do precisely that. That is the defense counsel's job: to use whatever the prosecution hands him to get his client acquitted.
In the real world, actions have consequences. If the possible consequences of this nitwit's nitwittery include freedom for a terrorist, then he needs to find work that is more tolerant of his being a nitwit.

"And the slur is ???????" I don't see any slur. Only truth. Pressure builds. People have to release it somewhere. He didn't shoot anybody, though he has probably felt like it a few times since 9/11.

"Maybe President Bush should apologize to Islam." Or have the offending agent grovel before Shishani...facing Mecca of course.
To: Poohbah
I remember a Muslim Calendar circulating in the Middle East with a picture of WTC attack on it and celebrating the attack. I wonder if this was one of them. (Just a thought)
It would be a sad day in America if what you describe happens.
I believe O'Reilly addressed this recently. About lawyers who know their clients are quilty but will do anything to get them off. His example was I think a killing and the lawyers money was "blood" money. To me it would be the same thing. IMHO the guy had the checks to cash to fund terrorist activities here and abroad.

You're doing a commendable job, Poohbah, but it's a losing battle. The same folks around here who will call and LEO a jack-booted thug for writing a no-seatbelt ticket will give the same LEO a pass when the target is muslim.
Incidentally, I agree that "Christ is King" is a true statement, and not a slur. Irrelevant. The issue is defacement of private property. Let a cop spraypaint his opinion the property of anyone on this thread during an otherwise legal search, and the howls would be heard all over FR (and rightfully so).

"The Secret Service agent should receive a medal" My thought was that he was simply expressing what a great many Americans think. We have been gagged far too long by the liberal's idea of diversity and the censorship on speech that accompanies it. It is destructive. Simple as that. These people need to realize that they are not welcome here. They need to have their activities scrutinized. We need to make them uncomfortable. I don't really care if they get offended. I get more than a little offended when 3000 of my countrymen are attacked amd killed and I see these Muslim monsters on tv cheering about it. We owe them NOTHING!

"Islam is Evil - Christ is King!" Yes, it would make a good bumper sticker. Of course, painting a bullseye on your car would probably have a similar effect.

Lets just agree to disagree on the severity of the Secret Service agents crime and hope for the best and justice is served when the upstanding Muslim with 12.5 million in bogus checks is tried.

This isn't about slurs, or religious belief. It's about the SS agent WILLFULY ALTERING THE AREA DURING A SEARCH. If he wrote on a calendar, I am much more willing to believe that he may have altered the searched environment in other ways as well, perhaps including planting those checks.
To: Militiaman7
My, how standards have declined! What the agent wrote wasn't a slur. A proper slur would be more along the lines of....
There is no sow like unto allah, and mohammed is her pimp!

I would be very interested to see some statistics comparing synagogue desecrations and attacks on Jews to corresponding action against Muslims. I expect that in this country, both would be similar and infrequent, while in the rest of the world, it would be lopsidedly tilted in the direction of attacks against Jews.

I'm sure glad the authorities are looking into this. While they're at it, do you suppose they can look into Shishani's peaceful writings as well? It could be what set off the agent in the first place. This has not been given the air and print time it should but here is an excerpt from yesterday's Detroit Free Press describing some of what they found in his home:
"When we decide to destroy a population, we (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: Then we destroy them utterly,"
When arrested after a flight from Indonesia, Shishani was carrying a piece of paper with Arabic verses from the Koran that appeared, in translation, to refer to martyrs and apocalyptic events, the FBI said.

I know certain groups track these sort of statistics but I don't think a comparison has ever been made. Speaking as a conservative American who happens to be Jewish, I can say with great certainty that Judaism is respected in America moreso than in Europe, Asia or the Middle East (excluding Israel). Antisemitism is not institutionalized in America, nor is it part of the fabric of our culture.
Jews here should give credit to the social conservatives, Christians for the most part, for the relative harmony and freedom we have to practice our religion free from discrimination. Moreover, America has bent over backwards to accomodate American Muslims... Bush made a pont following Sept. 11 to reach out to thier community, and the gratitude from the Muslim world was to ridicule him w/ Anti-Western propaganda.

Thanks for your post to mine. When they hit us again, and they will, maybe America will really wake up! What bothers me is that this poor guy will be held accountable for doing what most Americans would like to do. And it does bother me.
