Bioweapons expert Steven J. Hatfill said yesterday that his life has been ruined by what he and his attorney called the sloppy and unprofessional nature of the FBI's anthrax investigation and the irresponsible reporting by the media.
"I never worked with anthrax," Mr. Hatfill read from a statement before about 100 reporters gathered outside his attorney's Old Town Alexandria office.

He shouldn't have sent those Anthrax laced letters then...
Just kidding.

I saw this guy earlier and I have to admit he sure doesn't look or sound like someone that would do this. The FBI had damn well better be sure of what they are letting be leaked OR they had better stop the leaks. This isnt some poor security guard like Richard Jewell this is a guy that can really make some waves.

Why is they having such a problem thinking maybe that these weren't domestic attacks but the anthrax was sent by the same group of persons who highjacked four planes a few days earlier. The FBI wants this to be a domestic terrorist attack so bad.
I still think that anthrax came right from Iraq. Why does our government have such a hard time with this? Wasn't it Atta who had burns on his hands that were probably anthrax? Witnessed by a pharmacist in Florida?
Granted there was some anthrax mail ( hoax talc powder etc.) sent by some domestic nuts but these people were easily found and were arrested.

The FBI wants this to be a domestic terrorist attack so bad. I don't believe that. There is nothing that the Administration would rather do at this time than to place this right in the lap of Sadaam Hussein. I believe this guy's name has been surfaced for a long time from some very liberal scientist and has been on record demanding that he be investigated. What really irks me is that the investigation is so darn public. His name should have never been uttered by a government source until or unless he is charged.

The FBI is once again spending more time playing media public relations games than it is investigating crimes. It is time to consider reforming the FBI, maybe into a new agency.

How would making the FBI into a new agency solve its problems? It should be abolished outright, along with the DEA and BATF.

Bioweapons expert Steven J. Hatfill said yesterday that his life has been ruined by what he and his attorney called the sloppy and unprofessional nature of the FBI's anthrax investigation and the irresponsible reporting by the media. Dr. Steven J. Hatfill, a bioweapons expert under scrutiny for the anthrax attacks, looks on after defending himself during a news conference outside his attorney's office Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Alexandria, Va. Law enforcement officials have said Hatfill is one of about 30 scientists being looked at in the anthrax investigation.

This whole deal is a stupendous failure. This man has been criminally wronged by our government. If high level FBI supervisors responsible for this insanity, this acme of stupidity, are not fired .... Ashcroft should be removed. If he does not roll some heads he's an incompetent putz.

A little off-topic but Hatfill's attorney looks like he might have been one of the Merry Pranksters on Ken Kesey's bus.

The attorney said at the news conference that he had been doing some criminal things 20 years ago. It sounded like drugs to me.

It's amazing to me to watch how this story developed all the while discussing it over the months with all of you on FR. Watching the news, I see how far "we" are ahead of it.
As for the leaks, I recall they seemed to have started once Rosenberg appeared before a Senate Committee - there may have been pressure from there, and leaks.
As for the "Greendale" thing, I keep seeing changing stories. How about Padilla's terror-mosque in Florida being on "Franklin Park" Drive?
As for writing a book on terrorism and a story on mailing Anthrax (just?) Babs herself admitted about "joking" around with colleagues before 9/11 about such an attack. And these stories were part of the common culture, appearing on Fox shows like Millenium, in books, etc.
Hope it's not him, and I doubt it.

The one looking to his right, I believe, in the top picture, between the elbow of the Armoured Cars Regiment officer wearing the yellow-on-red stable belt [pistol belt, Yanks!] and the skyward-pointing DShk machinegun on the far T55L tank, next to the fellow wearing eyeglasses looking directly at the photog. Not Rhodesia's SAS C squadron or Selous Scouts, though.
Photo taken about 0900 Hrs, 04 March 04, 1980, as members of the Armoured Cars Regiment's *E Squadron* get the news to stand down in their part of * Operation Quartz,* scheduled to take place that day along with simultaneous ccontingincy plans QUARTZ, HECTIC, HATCHET and HAVOC.

I watched the press conference yesterday on Fox, and Hatfill sounded extremely credible in my opinion. A former CIA guy, who is now a Fox analyst, said that the Hatfill case is the result of incompetance on the part of the FBI agent in charge. Sound VERY believable to me.

Remember the late 1950s and early '60s, when FBI, Customs and BATF [then called ATTU] agents were falling all over themselves trying to investigate the Cuban exile plans for retaking their homeland, supported by the CIA and directed by the White House? Sounds sorta familiar, doesn't it...?
Let's hope that this go-around doesn't also have results like those that led to President Kennedy's death in Dallas. And while we have a Texan president, too...Hmmmm....

"Watching the news, I see how far "we" are ahead of it." Does it strike you as ironic that nobody in the mainstream media appears to have figured it out yet?
Has everybody in the establishment media contracted terminal ignorance?
We may be wrong. But I doubt it...
