Abortion Parish Suggests 10 Ways To Show You Are Pro Life (Can we improve their list?)
Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Bulletin ^ | August 18, 2002 | Our Lady of Good Counsel Staff

The Plymouth, Michigan parish that is supporting the partial birth abortion gubernatorial candidate -- a parishioner -- gave us "Ten Ways to Show You Are Pro Life" in last Sunday's parish bulletin. Can you improve this list:

1) Visit the Giving Tree. There you will find small ways to help the unborn, the homeless and the defenders of our country who are now hospitalized.

2) Volunteer for Manna Meals. Groups of parishioners go weekly to a soup kitchen in Detroit (across from the old Tiger Stadium).

3) Knit or Crochet a Layette. The Council of Catholic Women of Detroit provides handmade clothes for newborns born to less fortunate mothers.

4) Visit a Garage Sale. Buy up all the baby items and donate them to Wee Care - a program of Right to Life that helps mothers in need. (Or better yet, have the owner provide them free of charge -- brochures are available.)

5) Pound a Nail. Habitat for Humanity is busy this summer and fall with a project on the near west side of Detroit. Every other Saturday, beginning August 24th. Blitz Build September 8th - 15th.

6) Volunteer for the Co/op Nursery . . . spending time with little ones keeps you young.

7) Exercise your citizenship muscles . . . Get out and vote.

8) Become a mentor for a child from an abusive home. First Step, a domestic abuse shelter in Plymouth, can show you how.

9) Visit a nursing home. You won't make it past the front door before you happen upon somebody who needs you. Look for Jesus in their face.

10) Pray . . . in earnest. Pray for every aspect of life; the poor, the hungry, the unborn, the sick and the disabled. A prayer group will be forming soon!

Can anybody give me tips on pinging efficiently for an abortion / religious thread?

While you are developing you own list, you may want to ping the following ... Catholic list ... and ... RnMomof7 ... who maintains an extensive Protestant list.

I maintain a list of individuals interested in religious topics. Let me know if you want on the list. God Bless.

thanks for the ping. I like the #4. I think I will do that next spring when the garage sales get in full swing.

The only thing I can add is encourage marriage, even as a consequence again of an unplanned pregnancy(societal pressure, not mandated). You know, we can win this abortion issue, but the rhetoric has to go in our favor. Look what the anti smoking zealots have done. If they can change public opinion that quickly, than if we had the vehicles to deliver the message over and over again, I know we can too. Tough call though I know since that means there needs to be more conservatives snatching up newspapers and such.

Oh good grief...I didn't read it carefully enough. I just read the very top of it. I am Christian and this type of stuff I despise. Religious folk voting for other religious folk of thier persuasion just because they are the same persuasion. Good Catholics in this parish, don't just vote for this person because they are a Catholic because in reality are they Catholic really if they don't protect the unborn?

YOu know on another thread someone made a great point, does the FR also believe that we should have the choice to murder(besides the unborn that is)? Or how about steal? Without consequence? Is the FR supporting anarchy where God will sort it our in the end?

People hate these images because they hate the truth. Oh, I know, people hide behind thier children as the reason why they don't want to see them(my kids might see and be disturbed), but I think for *most* people, this is not the real reason why, it disturbs *them* and they don't want to be disturbed or have to think about what abortion really is.
I used to be pro-choice, I refused to look at these images. The day I did, coupled with having my own child, was the day my heart started to change. Consequently I moved closer to faith in God as well. IMO, people are either stubborn or emotionless if the pictures don't make them rethink a pro-abortion position.

Thanks for the ping-a-long.

I like Father's Pavone's idea. - If people saw an abortion they would not be for abortion. -

Maybe we need a 'ping type' list for TV stations so we could request this. TV shows everything else. Those guys who did the shock jock stuff at St Pat's should have shown an abortion.

Just imagine if people think what pedophiles do to children is horrible, they should see what abortionists do.

Ok. We get it. "Father" Ortman thinks it's wrong to pass judgement on people who believe in butchering defenseless little babies if it's convenient for their own purposes. Sadly, it's not at all a stretch that "Father" (chill) Ortman also believes that it's OK for adult men to satisfy their sexual impulses through the exploitation of defenseless little kids also. After all, it's all relative, if it feels good do it, there's no such thing as "right" or "wrong" & the worst sin in modern christianity is to be "judgemental". GAG. Has anybody run an FBI check on this freak?
