And by the way, a Freeper told me you are an "artist" Mr. Lied. Is that so?

Is there something you want to say to me, veronica? Don't be coy.

Neither of my comments were directed to you, as you can see by the fact that I did not ping you.

How lame.

Larry was talking about me, and for some reason, so were you.

If you want to split hairs and say that because it was only directed "at" me that there was no need to direct it "to" me, suit yourself. You are certainly free to behave in as rude and dishonest a manner as you wish.

Larry was talking about me.

I know.

And for some reason, so were you.

No I wasn't. Don't be paranoid.

No I wasn't.

Then who WERE you talking about here?

She's an artist too and I don't have to tell you about them.

Some artists are admirable people. Failed artists are usually that way because they are untalented. So they become bitter and spend their time lasing out at those for whom life has worked out.

You wrote it, not me. What interpretation am I supposed to make, other than the obvious one?

Veronica has a long running dialogue with LarryLied. So do I for that matter.

I assure you that this has nothing to do with you being an artist. Her comments were not aimed at you.

"Since the obvious impulse of the rich and powerful is to use their wealth and power to continue to accumulate more...this "noblesse oblige" is not something that is intuitive...but is rather something that must be taught by the person's parents, church, educators, etc. The case for this sort of thing is much easier to make when the downtrodden in a given society are of the same tribal unit as the powerful."

You folks are onto something here. It would seem as if, in the wealthy liberal mind, the concept of noblesse oblige toward one's own social inferiors (but racial equals) has somehow mutated into:

a. An overpowering sense of guilt toward so-called minorities.

b. An overweening sense of superiority toward supposed "social inferiors".

Somehow, I don't believe John D. would approve...

I think you're right -- they really have confused racial distinctions with social distinctions. The latter are FAR more important, because jumped-up trailer trash of ANY color is obnoxious no matter how much money it has, while decent God-fearing folks of ANY color are fine regardless of bank balance (ask around the South about "old blood and NO money". There are plenty of those folks, what I think the English call "gentlewomen in distressed circumstances." And, perhaps surprisingly to those not in the South, there are black families of old tradition, who sometimes have come down in the world, who are respected by all, black and white, for their integrity.)

These "nouveau trailer trash" (where did Grubman's family get their money anyhow?) just don't get it. The old rules used to be that you treated folks who didn't have as much money or power as you with courtesy and respect (NOT condescension, which is where Grubman and her ilk miss with even the racial distinction that they do recognize. They don't abuse people of another race, but they patronize and condescend. That doesn't hurt as badly, but it does make meaningful communication almost impossible.) In days not so long past, the question of race was largely congruent with money and power, but no more. It's a bit more of a minefield now (of course, if you treat EVERYONE with courtesy and respect, it's no problem, is it?)

We have all, I think, seen your work and know that you're an Artist. Just as we've seen LarryLied's work and know that he's an "artist". There's a difference, you know ;).

It's not the fact that she's blonde. It's the cash. Definately the cash.

I wouldn't have thought I had to draw a picture of what was just done to me here. Apparently I was wrong. But, since even that is not likely to help some people "get it", it's just not worth the trouble.

If I had meant you, I would have pinged you. It's pretty simple.

"I also didn't want her to see how sad I was"

The road to hell is paved with patheic excuses like that.
