This drip should have coffee with Eunice one of these days to learn how to keep herself grounded when trouble appears to be percolating.

True. Not matter how this all plays out, I believe the Eunice has integrity and has accurately reported what she experienced.

As far as the toll operator example goes, I guess we can see that "eye-witness" accounts are not as reliable as would all like to think.

So they were innocent. So we closed down a freeway and blew up someone's luggage on live TV over nothing. That is a lesson in itself, perhaps. But it is not her lesson... it is the authorities and the media that need to learn how to react to a new world.

You and I and most of us here know that, but I'm talking about the unwashed masses that are not as sophisticated as that. And the way the media responded was predictable and they would do the same thing again if this happens, it's all about ratings.

Perhaps the next person who sees something suspicious will know better to remain anonymous, that is of course if the networks will let them (which they won't).

They should consider themselves lucky. If it were 1942 they wouldn't be going through a toll booth... they'd be in a detainee camp for Arab collaborators.

You and me both. If I see anything ...I'm reporting it. I've dealt with negative consequences before....in spades. And if I see them in the act, I hope I'm in a position to act. Being villified by the commie media doesn't phase me one bit....I relish the opportunity.

They can all go to Hell in a bucket for all I care. They are almost as big an enemy as the Islamic terrs.

We lived in a different world before 9-11. I don't want to see the blame for what happened placed anywhere but on the terrorists themselves.

We can't always stop bad people from doing bad things, and we need to stop pretending that we can, and if we fail, then we are culpable. We didn't know how to interpret terrorist activity in this country before... Nor how much weight to put on the thousands of tips received. We know a little better now. The fingerpointing is unhelpful, and I wish it wasn't happening.

If you want to put people's asses personally on the line for not predicting the future accurately, you will not get truth to learn from, you will get defense...

I believe this whole thing was orchestrated to send a message that anyone who tries to be vigilant in spotting terrorists will be made a pariah, and to discourage others from reporting suspicious activity. Mission accomplished.

BINGO! After all, these non-terrorists have changed their statements many times, after refusing to answer simple questions and lieing about their names and business. And, let us not forget the license plates, either. Too many "wrongs" for this to possibly be a right.

If ALL of you would pay attention to what people say, you would KNOW that the first car ONLY had part of the toll money and paid that...(50 cents I believe)..the second car paid the balance...The 3 suspects were NOT telling a lie..!!!

What about their first statement that they were only telling a joke at the restaurant, and then changing their answer later to say that they never said anything about September 11th or 13th? How do you explain this change in statement?

They never made such a statement. The joke story came about as the result of a leak from a policeman who may have been speculating.

My personal favorite long range terrorist interdiction appliance. I'll call the media when I'm done.

Ok...so I'm barrel strokin a bit...can't help myself.

Exactly right. I knew it.

And to think I used to wonder how this country could have tolerated interning American citizens in camps during WWII.

Now I know.

I think these televised hearings most often produce little more than showboating on the part of senators and congressmen, but this hearing is different. This hearing alerts all of us to the shortcomings built into our government, in particular, the immigration process, and most especially, how the different agencies of government were unprepared for 9-11. Without this public hearing, there would be no public outcry to fix what's broke, before our country is totally destroyed by our enemies.

This is a joint committee. The agents testifying are having to deal with totally stupid senators!! That needs public exposure too.

Heaven forbid that anyone should keep an extra close eye on an Arab...

Exactly.
And what was so bad about the internment camps, anyway?
Those camps probably saved a lot of folks from being harmed by irate Americans, and I'd still bet they also served to prevent sabotage and espionage by the Quote-unquote "Japanese-Americans."
I have yet to meet a person of Japanese descent who did not think of himself as Japanese first, American (or other) second.

Unfortunately, the guy asking stoopid questions now is a Republican congressman from North Carolina. These elected officials should let Eleanor ______ do the questioning....she's the staffer who's done the investigating (their homework). She's the one who has already gotten answers they are trying so pathetically to get out of these agents, so they look really really smart.

You are right.

If the Mossad can't stop Islamic terrorists from acting in a country as small as Israel why do we think our cops will have any better luck stopping terrorists from blowing themselves and us up with homicide bombs in a country the size of the U.S., if they decide to?

It is politically incorrect for us to do what we should.

We NEVER should have known who called in the tip... That was the biggest mistake of this whole ordeal.

100% agreed. I'm very sorry that she's at the center of this mess, but I'm very glad that she called.
