Who is Al Gore's Speech Coach?

Posted on 09/24/2002 1:37:07 PM PDT by ml/nj

Today, while I was listening to Rush play tapes of Al Gore's speech yesterday, I started wondering if Al Gore really always spoke like Forest Gump. Really! If you listen, it sounds like he has to rest in between syllables whenever he uses a word with more than two syllables.

I cannot recall how Gore sounded back in the 80's e.g., but this is a guy who grew up in Washington DC, and then went to Harvard. His father was a Senator. I don't really recall Gore Sr., but my guess is that he went along with the prevailing wisdom that a politician should sound educated. If he thought his son had any sort of speech problem, I'm sure he would have gotten a coach for Al Jr.

And the DNC? Didn't they pay big bucks to some babe to advise Gore Jr. on how to dress. I'm sure they also provided him with a speech coach, and he probably still has one.

All of this lead me to the conclusion the Gore is intentionally trying to sound like Forest (but he either forgot, and just cannot duplicate, the down home wisdom). The question is: why?

My own guess is that the Democrats think they can win elections if they lock up 90% of the voters with below average intelligence, and Gore thinks that the Gump routine is his path to those voters. He just can't be that stupid, can he?

Right on with your response #24.

In my opinion, Gore is painful to listen to because he is contrived. People who are naturally stiff, wooden and boring at least come off as naturally stiff, wooden and boring. Even that would have a certain charm. Gore comes off so poorly because everything he does is orchestrated. His cadence isn't in synch with his body movements, and there is no passion or sincerity in his recited words.

Gore even orchestrated a photo op at a fair one time. Switched the ribbons on the cattle, so he could be photographed with the winner. (If the skeptics out there want documentation, I will find it. Working from memory right now.)

Even Gore's strongest defenders say that if you really knew him, he is funny and relaxed. So, why do we see an unfunny and unrelaxed Gore in public? Because he is trying to be something he isn't.

He is trying to be Presidential material.

I was thinking as I was listening to a replay of his speech, does it seem his 'southern' accent is more pronounced these days then when he was VP? Like he is gonna be a good ol' boy?

"He speaks as though he is lecturing to a small child.

This is necessary to reach his core supporters in Floriduh and the welfare breeding mares and their bastard offspring.

Also, one of the worst kept secrets of the democrat party, is that Gore is in reality - profoundly stupid.

Of HHH, Barry Goldwater once said, "Listening to him was like reading Playboy, with your wife turning the pages."

With the lisp - maybe it's poorly fitted dentures. You'd think they would correct that ... unless they can't because he really talks that way ;)

Drugs might explain it.

That was suggested when I discussed this with friends.

I can't really believe that he is so "far out," that he cannot be coached back to reality. Look at all the performers who are dope heads, who can act or sing. Consider too, how most of the folks asked to "host" Saturday Night Live do. They are only coached for a week. Or the bird-brained athletes who have to answer media questions; most seem positively brilliant when compared with Gore.

Others suggested that maybe it had to do with depression brought on by the loss, but he hadn't lost when the Forest Gump routine was already in evidence. I'd probably put the dividing line for Gore at receiving the Vice Presidential nomination back in '92.

I cannot recall any other person who ever ran for President who seemed so completely bereft of intelligence. There are other people who want the job, and they're not all stupid. I think they would bury a man a vacuous as Gore seems. But they're not burying him.

It has to be an act!

I think Bill and Hitlery tapped Gore in 1992 because he was dumb, and he wouldn't make waves. Aside from breaking tie votes in the senate, what did Gore do for eight years? Mostly dialing for dollars, and acting as a bagman for the Russians and Buddhist monks. He was low-profile, and never competed with the klintons in the glamor department.

Heck, the klintons hand-picked Gore as their successor, because he would be easily controlled. All the dirty election tricks in Florida was done by the klintons. Al had already conceded when he received a page from the White House telling him to un-concede and await further instructions.

It's really funny watching the democRAT nobodies like Gore and Dashole pretend like they're competing for the nomination in 1992. The klintons have their FBI files, too. Any wannabe who gets out of line can be given the insider's tour of Ft Marcy Park, too.

The democRAT candidate in 2004 will either be Hitlery, or someone hand-picked by the klintons to be the false front that Gore would have been.

He speaks as though he is lecturing to a small child.

Bingo! I've said it since back in the 80s, Al Gore's style is condescention. He speaks to his audiences as if he is speaking to a group of five year olds because IMHO he beleives he is mentally head and shoulders above all others and thus has to dumb it down for his audience. Incredibly insulting.

BTW, in Gores speach he kept stating that the US has to act in accordance with the law or become a rogue itself. In other words, continue to be the puppet of the UN. Mr Gore, the UN is not and hopefully never again will be a "controlling legal authority" over US foreign policy. It was for eight years, but thankfully those days are over.

Trying to come up with the possible explanations for Gore’s BrainFart:

1. He really is that stupid.

2. Bill or Hillary convinced him to give that speech to kill him off politically. It flies in the face of current polls showing support for Bush, hurts other Democrats (as Gore is still seen as one of the party’s spokesmen) and it makes Gore an untouchable if the Bush Iraq strategy is successful. Neither Bill nor Hillary cares about the short term interest of the party if it clears the way for Hillary.

3. He intentionally goes hard left to grab headlines and the left wing of the party, gambling that the Bush plan runs amok, so that Gore eventually looks like a prophetic genius. (Sick)

I tend to favor a combination of one and two. As to his speech and hair, he's probably drinking Rogaine and inhaling Sterno.
