I remember this story. I would have liked to see her get more jail time and this story get more air time.

"I just can't put words in my client's mouth," he said. "I know there are things she would have liked to say."

Yeah - I wish I was never caught!

There was a similar story here in Boston where a woman "faked" having terminal cancer and thousands of dollars were raised on her behalf. Local citizens even staged a benefit road race in her honor. The woman used the money to live a lavish lifestyle including a new car and breast implants!

I think this woman also had to serve some jail time which in my opinion is most appropriate.

Of course she moved to California, where that type of caper is rewarded with talk show spots, celebrity phone calls, and the cover of People mag.

Another Jesse JackAsson follower. I say she deserves HARD TIME. If these kind of things get people 10-20 years for doing in for real, then the Fakers that are doing it for publicity deserve the SAME TIME!

"I know there are things she would have liked to say."

“I meant to hurt all white people and race relations in general. Instead, I only hurt myself. For this I am truly sorry.”

Jaelyn Sealey, a former North Carolina woman who admitted she staged a hate crime at her home more than two years ago to collect insurance money, wept as she was sentenced to six months in prison.

Bwahahahahaha! Oops, sorry, is mean-spirited laughing at this person a "hate crime"? I'm sorry, but trying to rip off your insurance company and blame it on those EvilWhiteRacists wins you the Jessie Jackson/Cynthia McKinney Award for Portraying Negative Racial Sterotypes.

Sealey,...admitted to using gasoline to burn her 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier in her driveway and to painting a racial epithet on a metal garage door.

In exchange for her plea, the government agreed to drop one count of using a firearm to commit a felony.

I saw gasoline, I saw spray paint, but WHERE DID SHE USE A FIREARM???

Don't get me wrong, I don't like what she did. But was this a bogus charge used to coerce a guilty plea? If so, such tactics won't stop with her, rest assured.

haha! Now this lady will sit in jail and she has a burnt pile of junk to drive around town when she gets out.

I think she should be charged with a hate crime - because, by definition, that's what it was.

Wonder if the insurance companies (fire, home, vehicle) will be filing civil suits. I surely hope.

"My client and everyone in the community are looking for closure," he said.

"Closure". A phrase I am sick of hearing. Along with "connect the dots" and "herding cats". There should be a $500 tax on each person each time they use any of these trite, meaningless phrases.

(This minor rant in no way reflects either approval or disapproval of the ideas or posts of the Freeper who uses the screen name "Connect the dots.)

I wonder if any other kind of crime gets faked more often than hate crimes. I bet not.

At one time incidents like these would be classified as "blood libel", such as Jews in Europe being accused of child sacrifice and other such inflammatory rhetorical devices. I expect as we advance into a third world like condition in America whites will actually be hounded like the Jews were with pogroms and such by the next generation of race hustlers using violence to extort and ethnically cleanse political districts.

"Jaelyn Sealey, a former North Carolina woman"

Did she have a sex-change operation?
