Now there is a constructive idea! That should further get them to fighting amongst themselves, and actually I think Gephardt deserves it!

Gephardt is your average Rat politician who for some reason finally hears the call of something greater than the next election. He should be encouraged (although not to the point of getting the Speakership).

I wonder how you nominate people for that award. Gephardt's nomination could include the "bear any burden, pay any price" quote from JFK's inaugural. That should get Caroline's attention.

I just finished reading Fighting Back by Bill Sammon. I really, REALLY recommend this book, not only for the profile of the President but also for a glimpse of the Washington press corps, which is evil in the extreme. To understand the President, I am quoting the last paragraph of the book, from a personal interview with Bill Sammon:

"The presidency is much bigger than budget battles and political squabbles. The presidency and the job of a president is to elevate the sights of the country."

"And you can't do that, concluded George W. Bush, "unless the country is united."

That explains the sign I saw last night at our Fresno Freep Rally for the troops. This peacenik had a coffin with flowers on it he was parading around that said something about hundreds of African American soldiers would be killed if we bomb Iraq. Talking points at work again, clear across the country!
