Oh, I most certainly do believe in prophets, but I understand that there are a hundred false prophets for every real one.

And, my handle was a Navy nickname; I'm not a NASCAR fan (Lord, forgive me) -- I rather enjoy a good formula race and the occasional grand prix.

"Do you ever wonder why we no longer go to the Moon, or that no other nation is trying to go there (except China!)?"

Man, that's a hard queston! Lets see, hmmmmm. Maybe it's because it's technologically very difficult to do and it costs lots and lots of money? And perhaps because there's only one country in the world that can do it? Well am I right?

Maybe so, but these weren't MY ancestors. Hope they weren't yours, either.

Nothing personal -- just tired of space aliens, cities on the moon, dumbass Art Bell psuedo-scientific claptrap! But I do find Mars interesting.

Do you believe there are Angels?... They would be extra-terrestrials if real. I've never seen an angel, that I know of, but I have seen an object at close range that defied our current physics (the object was seen in 1970, but it is still beyond the capabilities of aircraft I would presume we have far advanced from the blackbird).

If those were prophetic pictures of future machines then I'd say they were pretty accurate. What about the ancient delta-wing aircraft trinkets in South America? An engineer built a foot long model of one and it flew perfectly. How do you suppose those came into being?

And, my handle was a Navy nickname; I'm not a NASCAR fan (Lord, forgive me) -- I rather enjoy a good formula race and the occasional grand prix.

No offense but I'm glad you're not an Earnhardt fan. The overwhelming majority of Earnhardt fans I know in person or on the net are open-minded, courteous, and thoughtful. People who dismiss things out of hand without knowing the facts are close-minded. It's why the academic scientific community is so far behind.

Um dude...the title of this thread should've been a pretty big hint to you that these subjects would be discussed.

OK, a bit of enlightenment. I'd call myself an atheist if I were sure that there is no God. I have met people so convinced and was struck by the difference in attitudes between such and myself. I am not one of them.

I don't see how anyone can claim to know such questions, at least until such a time as real miracles become evident to all. (That is, unless and until God chooses to reveal himself.) I certainly don't know, myself, if there's a spiritual side to the universe, since it would by nature be unobservable anyway.

The distinction between two words may be of no interest to you. However, it is incorrect to say that there is no difference. That's why there are separate words for the separate cases.

You are sure there is no such things as prophetic visions. Most of the bible is composed of prophetic visions. How can you not be an atheist?

Bible prophesy comes true all the time. That's how I know.

(That is, unless and until God chooses to reveal himself.) I certainly don't know, myself, if there's a spiritual side to the universe, since it would by nature be unobservable anyway.

Not all the time. Prophesies in the bible come true all the time. That's where the revelations are for people willing to study and look for them.

The distinction between two words may be of no interest to you. However, it is incorrect to say that there is no difference. That's why there are separate words for the separate cases.

I used to be an atheist/agnostic and even when I didn't believe in the bible I did believe in prophetic visions. It's illogical to be sure that prophecy cannot occur but then be kinda/sorta on the bible. Unless maybe you believe that there may be God but the bible isn't His Word. Or maybe you believe in something like Gaia or the "all things are God" deal.

Bottom line is you don't believe in prophecy so we have irreconcilable differences on this issue of ancient carvings and models of modern machinery, not that they must be prophetic visions, they could be machines of a lost civilization. The odds of "corrected" hyroglyphics drawing 4 modern machines within inches of each other and unique in all of Egypt are just too astronomical for me to accept over the two possibilities I put forth.

You're saying basically that it's Biblical Prophecy or atheism. False dichotomy. You've got to get out more.

No, I'm saying that if you're sure that there is no such thing as prophecy, then you must be sure that the bible isn't treue because most of the bible is prophecy.

False dichotomy. You've got to get out more.

I've done more than you I bet.

Is a Hindu an atheist? A Muslim? A polytheist/animist of any one of hundreds of religions world-wide? A non-Christian Deist?

Your insular view leads you to misuse words.

Hindus and Muslims believe in prophecy, don't they? Reread my longer post above. I left open the possibility that you could be a Gaia worshipper or something of that sort.

Your insular view leads you to misuse words.

Like I said, reread my longer post above. I said that if you don't believe in the bible, you could be one of those new age worshippers or something of the sort and not be an atheist. Calm down.

Well, I'm not any of those things. I'm an agnostic, so I'm not an atheist. No, I don't accept miracles until I start seeing better evidence for their reality. I'm pretty skeptical of UFOs, ghosts, and the Monkey Man of India for the same reason.

Have a nice night.

The evidence for miracles is all around us. You don't see them because you don't want to see them.
