Superstitious man divorces hubby over birthday
By Roger Mugisha
Some people are extremely superstitious. Residents of Wobulenzi county, Wakiso district laughed their hearts out as one Ssebugwawo chased his wife from his home because she had given birth on her own birthday.
According to the residents, Ssebugwawos wife was born on September 28 and that also happened to be the same day that she gave birth to his first baby. Sebugwawo didnt hesitate to start showering her with insults and accusing her of having evil spirits in her family.
When the LC chairman asked him what the problem was, he told him that his forefathers considered such an act as witchcraft and whoever was responsible was ostracised and kicked out of the family.
Sources said that he packed his wifes property, threw it out of the house and started burning incense to scare away the devils.
The wife was left with no choice but to go back to her home in Teso.
But many people are amused about how people can be so superstitious!
All cultures are equal. This one, in particular, is equal to that which placed the man on the Moon.
In fact, we have our own superstitions. We believe in laws of physics, for instance. We believe that AIDS is caused by a virus, whereas most people in South Africa know the truth: AIDS is a result of poverty and an invention of the white man.
As you can see, we in the west have our own fairy tales. So be a little more respectful next time.
