You are correct as to my lower rank - but I have seen some rather unfortunate incidents in my time. My interpretation is that a strong NCO corps, supporting each other up and down the chain of command, can take care of any but the most delinquent soldier using conventional methods. Weaken that backbone, and the privates runneth amok.

As to that 10%, or the terminally delinquent soldier, ultimately, if they don't want to be in the Army, I don't want them there.

I have to admit that I wouldn't mind seeing articles like this banned from Free Republic. I'm not sure what good they are, since most of us here have already heard the Left's tired arguments 1,000 times already. You'd think they could find something NEW, even if they had to make it up (that's never stopped them in the past). But no, it's the same stale rhetoric, the same shopworn mantra, the same steady drumbeat ....

This idiot explains where he's coming from in a 1992 "first person narrative" for "The Anti-Warrior," described by the publisher thuss: "Published by the GI Refusnix to the Persian Gulf Massacre in Support of All War Resisters."

Nice. Here's an exerpt from Dr. Wiggins:

In February 1990, I was a model officer of the U.S. Army. In 1984, I had graduated from West Point as a Distinguished Cadet, 23rd in my class of about 1,000. In 1988, I graduated from New York Medical College as a member of the national medical honor society, AOA. In 1989, I had completed my internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the most prestigious Army Medical facility. I then became an Army Flight Surgeon.

Yet, I was very unhappy. The thought of further voluntary Army service disgusted me. I did not believe in what I was doing. I knew I had to change.

At 27 years of age, after years of learning about militarism and imperialism from the inside, I had realized the truth behind the lies and propaganda.

War is never imperative, it is always a matter of choice. War is never more than an option taken by military and political commanders. In this sense, war is a cost-benefit analysis. Our authority figures use religion, propaganda, bigotry, racism, and appeals to our sense of nationalism and patriotism in attempts to con us into assisting them in these schemes, or at least voluntarily taking part in them.

Beware! Doing what we are told and doing what is right are not the same thing. If they were, there would never be wars. The German people did as they were told. They did not question their authority figures. They were conned into believing that the war and everything involved in it was necessary and good, albeit sometimes unpleasant. Similar logic can be (was) applied to Saddam Hussein, George Bush, and the Persian Gulf war.... Read the rest by clicking here, if you can stomach it.

Awwwww. The poor soldier said he was "very unhappy." Didn't anyone tell him that his happiness isn't the most important thing in the world?

As an AF Academy grad, I can tell you that such slime does NOT reflect the typical product of either the AF Academy, West Point, or Annapolis. This prick is a total loser that sucked a very, VERY expensive education from the American taxpayer..........and then shoves it up our collective behinds.

He's worse than despicable.

One fine day my squad leader, unbeknownst to myself or the other team leader, decided to wall to wall a corporal and got his butt whupped.

The consequences were not fun, and I have an aversion to that type of 'leadership' to this day.

Just a sore subject with me, I guess.

As a member of the 'Long Gray Line' I am truly embarassed FOR Mr. Wiggins for surely he is too ignorant to be embarassed for himself. (This especially pains me since Mr. Wiggins is from PA.)

Even with all of its rigorous screening processes, West Point gets fooled every once in a while in its admissions process. While still one of the best institutions of higher learning in the world, things have gone down-hill since the mission of the academy was changed to permit female cadets. Sad but true. It makes my heart heavy to think that my alma mater has turned out a product so flawed as this.

On the positive side, he is representative of a very, very, very small percentage of graduates that I would not follow to the latrine if they were equipped with a compass, flash-light and a map. Beat Navy!!

As my First Sergeant used to say, "I'll have a word of prayer with him."

The malefactor involved did not sin again.

Well, I have no idea what you are asking about. But if someone is suggesting vigilantism, I'm opposed to it. Self-defense is fine, but mobs of citizens blasting away at suspects is another.

Went to your link. Don't even know where to begin, suffice to say that doctors don't fight in wars and this guy is full of it. His story is as one sided as a Don King fight.

Nowhere did I suggest violence toward Wiggins same as most people on this thread as accused by another poster. IMHO, we're better off without him.
