Clinton said the SAME THING about Monica! LOL, trust me, I was thinking of exactly that when I made the post, but I did not want to be non PC and say it.

I want you to go out to your local large airport. Go look at the turbofan engines on the DC-10s. How close to the ground is the bottom edge of that intake?
Note one of my earlier posts about the FOD walks I "enjoyed". NOTHING can be on the ground for aircraft engines to injest. They WILL pull things right off the ground.

Make that in
gest.
Saw that 1/2 second after clicking "post".

Yeh, just when you thought it cannot go any further. Keeps me wondering where it is going to stop.

For those wothout Air Force or avation training, FOD means Foreign Object Damage. We usd to make many a sweep on the flight line because certain lazy incompetents in Field Maintanance would not police up their safety wire.

You are Dead On ! as a Shih-Tzu owner I would hate to see one or any dog Put Down. But if it's on a Runway, it's gotta go........., Sad But True.....

And don't walk behind one either. You'll get free flying lessons right then and there.Without benefit of having an airplane wrapped around you at the time...
Although, there is significant danger to light aircraft operating on the ground in close proximity to jet aircraft. At takeoff power, commercial jets throw a 100 MPH wind wake about 200 feet behind them. Even at idle, they throw a serious wake a good 175 feet behind them which will really rattle a C172.
"Send the new guy to supply for ten yards of flight line and a couple of cans of jet wash."
I'm not even going to begin to discuss airborne wake turbulence...

The wreckage being blown out the back of the engine was his headgear and ear protectors, which took out most of the guts of the engine on the way out.Yeow! Before it (the engine or his hearing, or both) was destroyed, he must have heard sounds the likes of which are only now beginning to be approximated by rap and heavy metal groups...

Personally, when landing, I always make a low pass first to scare away the cows, goats, sheep, and turtles. Notice I did not say the "Moose Word"I read a story once about a bunch of tourists being flown out of a Canadian resort. Their charter hit a moose during takeoff roll (the charter, not the moose). Their stay was extended for a few days while a replacement aircraft was flown in...
At least the hotel served them moose steaks out of the deal.

That'll be the last time that dog owner trusts William Shatner and books on Priceline.com..............

just knock one blade out of kilter a bit and, before ya know it, the engine has gutted itself. Why don't they put some kind of metal 'mesh' over them? Also, I agree that a tranqualizer should have been used.

*finally* back in GA. Here's to rooting Saxby through!!!

Why don't they put some kind of metal 'mesh' over them? Short answer - adverse effect on sucking air in.

Jet engines eat anything.

YOu'd be surprised: the vets report an increasing number of dog owners that put their pets to sleep because, no longer being puppy-young dogs, "they are just not fun anymore."I read a story about one lady who did just the opposite. When the vet diagnosed her aging dog with a liver tumor, she and her hubby spent around $5,000 for an operation and post-operative care, rather than have the dog put to sleep. Later on, the dog noticed that her newborn baby had stopped breathing, alerted the mother, and basically saved the baby's life. So just because a dog is "no fun," anymore, does not mean it doesn't still have some value...

Uh, dude. Do you realize what happens to aircraft engines if dogs pass through them?I know what happens when gremlins throw things into them. Ever seen Twilight Zone: The Movie?
