Some feel that a Democrat's tendency to spend other people's money indicates a genetic relationship with grain-stealing barn rats.

That would explain why we call them rats. Hmmm but I tend to think that they were somehow also genetically spliced with leeches. They suck your blood and eventually kill their host.
